Twas a weird night. Got a call at around 11pm from a friend who informed me of another friend overdosing (accidently we think) on pain killers. Talked him down and hung up the phone. Around 1150pm got a call from a long lost girlfriend and we watched the peach drop on TV while on the phone. Made a date for this weekend. Down to up in less than an hour!

Then, went outside with the illegal fireworks I purchased in Alabama and BANG BANG BANG! Ran back inside when I heard a semi-auto going off - didn't want to catch any lead rain!

See ya on the hunt!

In bed and asleep by 11:00. Big party guy here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some fun and beers as much as the next guy, as long as the frivolity is over before midnight/bedtime.

We had a get-together at a friend's house on New Year's Eve. Combination of penny poker and board games until about 11:45 (and I only lost $1!), then breaking out the champagne for the countdown.

After midnight passed, we all got started playing Tri-Bond and we didn't finish the game until after 3 a.m. Great fun, but that makes for a very short nap when you have to drive a half-hour to get home, then get up at 6:30 to pick up your child at the sitter's house.

Still, it was one of the best New Year's Eve celebrations I've been a part of in a long time. I just don't plan on staying out so late next year!. Smile

Got home on the 31st to find my answering machine filled up with "happy new year" wishes from some friends around the world who had already rang in the new year. So I took some pleasure at calling them around midnight USA Easter Time to wake them up and "happy new year" them back. It worked pretty well for the western europe bunch, but my friends in Russia and Ukraine were already awake again in the morning. Too bad too. Sometimes they forget the time difference and wake me in the middle of the night.

..is the only way to describe my new years eve. The intent was to have a nice, quiet, laid back new years eve at my mom's house with a few friends and siblings...

..and then it evolved into a 20-25 person megabash with a lot of my sisters' friends (sister is about 26 or so, so think younger crowd), fireworks galore at midnight admid much drunkeness, and finally crawling into the basement bedroom around 4AM and sleeping til 11:30 New Year's Day.

The highlight "oddity" of the night was around 2AM watching my usally-levelheaded-mother figure out the correct sequence that one does a tequilla shot-lime-salt. She finally got it right on the 5th attempt.

Insane, that's all I can say.
