This is suppose to be a good show this year just like last year. Last year was the best I had ever seen. I wrote about it last year on the EZBoard. I hope this years show is a good one too. I will have my alarm set, and J.C. and I will be out in the back yard starting at about 4 AM!

This oughta be cool. Missed the show last year, cause my brother usually lets me know these dates and he was into sumpthin else then. Will try to catch it this year. Thanx for the post.

Hope the weather cooperates. I'll check it out tonight and again tomorrow at 5:30 if I can drag my carcass out of bed.

Well, maybe I would.
This clipped from NBC News: quote: ABC also says that it'll be about 100 years before they get this good again. |

Phat.bak sig always reminds of another saying:
Never wrestle with a pig in the mud. You both get dirty, but after a while you realize that the pig enjoys it. |

I hate it when mother nature has other plans in store for astronomers. Maybe we will see some good photos from the net and my astronomy magazines.

Went and sat on top of Mt. Yonah from 10 pm to 12 midnight last night hoping to see something, as I knew the clouds were moving in. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Got up early this morn hoping against hope that there would be a break in the cloud cover. No such luck! It wasn't a total loss, tho - I did get to spend a couple of hours alone in the dark conversing with my grown-up son, which is becoming a rarity these days.

I hope weather is good for the next spectacular shower in 2098, so that I can see it.

I don't think the visibility will be too good for me from six feet under.
There should be another shower in August 2003 though, right? The Percies (sp) meteor shower? ~erik~ |

But I plan to live forever, and so far so good.
There will be a Leonid shower next November but it will be a metor shower, not a metor storm. That is there will not be as many meteor visible during it as there "were" this time. The next storm is in 2098. |

I had talked with 5-yr-old Shark about waking him up at 5am to watch the meteor show. He was excited about the idea of going out in the middle of the night, in the cold, to look at the stars. Cool.
Got home from work around midnite and it was nice and clear, but no meteors. Set the alarm and woke up at 4:45am and all I saw were clouds. Didn't wake Shark up (let him sleep)...but at about 5:20am a little voice woke me up asking me when we were going to look for the meteors. Got all bundled up and spent a few minutes hanging out in the backyard looking at the dark, cloudy sky. Most importantly, as all you moms and dads know, I got to spend some more of that oh so wonderful time with my little boy who is growing up oh so fast. Meteor shower or not. -Sushi of the fisherKings |

The reports say it was a good one this year, but the veterans say it was not as good as the show last year. Last year was trememdous and the best meteor show I have ever seen. Here is an article:
