I am going to be in school Oct 28 and 29 in Lake City. Need suggestions for a hotel/motel. Am returning to Atlanta (south) area to stay Saturday night the 30th after attending race in Hampton. If cheap enough, may just stay all 3 nights (Thur, Fri & Sat.) Suggestions from locals PLEASE!

Lake City and Forest Park, while OK, are not your best choices. I suggest heading down Hiway 54 a little bit further south to Morrow. Lots of places in the area plus a nice mall (Southlake) for Bravesfan to spend money in.

Of the motels in Morrow, I am only familiar with one having put up some friends there for a gathering. It's Country Inn-Suites Morrow, 2192 Mount Zion Parkway, Morrow, GA 30260, 770-603-3232

Do you know anything about Best Rd in College Park? Would it be ok for a couple of days?

That area is primarily motels and industrial. The airport construction might make traffic rather interesting. Lots of places to eat on Riverdale Road, be careful at night though.

Some of the motels, like the Westin, are really nice and comfy with lots of amenities.
