As I read through the forums, I realize that they almost never have the same avatar on more than one or two posts. I glanced through a couple of threads to confirm my suspicions, and wasn't able to find 2 posts with the same avatr in the 30 or seconds I searched.

Are they obsessive-compulsive? Am I delusional? Does it matter?

If you look at the properties behind his avatar, you'll see that the avatar URL references a script. I bet that the script hasn't changed in quite a while, so one possible answer to how often is very rarely. On the other hand, the script seems to have a numerous set of pictures to dish up, so it could also be argued that his avatar changes with each viewing. Myself, I'm a behind the scenes server kind of guy, and I go with the rarely vote.

What "they", the avators aren't obsessive-compulsive. Myself, I am only obsessive-compulsive about having fun hunting geoccaches, but if you check the numbers you will find others that are far more obsessive-compulsive about their number than I am, right mtn-man.

Speaking of numbers (if I can throw this topic off track), how about the new profile page? I like it!

The only thing I would like is a total. For awhile I have been placing which find number a cache is in my logs. But I always forget and have been going to my profile to check what my current count is (I told you I wasn't obsessive-compulsive about my number). But now my profile doesn't have the total count in it and neither does the new stats page.

I have to agree with AL, I'd like to see a total finds in bold somewhere near the top. Sort of a scoreboard if you will. Maybe one for found benchmarks as well?

On the subject of numbers and people being obsessed...I noticed that mtn-man cheats! I was reading his profile, and I found this little tidbit tucked in near the bottom:

250th Find -- 11-26-03 -- Elves in the Fast Lane, PA

Now, I don't want to sound petty or anything, but setting a goal of 300 for a year when you have a wayback machine parked in the garage seems a little less than ambitious. Since he has time travel, he's probably padding his numbers finding caches that haven't even been hidden yet!

Why is my status listing me as an inactive user?????
I noticed that it listed the other Macon cachers who havent found anything for months as active users.
Whats the deal?

Happy Hunting! Smile

I got back in my little wayback machine and fixed that part of my profile. I don't want anyone else to notice my cheatin' ways. It has been there for a while but no one noticed. I am now up to 24 states and I hope to have number 25 this weekend, not that the numbers matter. But then again, have I really visited that many?

I was wondering when Robert was going to chime in!

Must use the same script.

After having completed Clarkston Cliche a few weeks back (it's outside I-285 so we can all do this one), it suddenly occured to me that we could use some new Geocaching cliches.

Instead of saying "frequently", consider saying "as often as AllenLacy changes his avatar".

Likewise, instead of saying "rarely" or "never", learn to say "as often as mtn-man visits the mountains".

Please insert liberal amounts of smileys for the humor impaired.

But I never change my avatar, so the correct way to say it is "as often as AllenLacy's avatar changes". Of course if no one looks it doesn't change.
