I changed my geonick today. I am now just Rebel. I dropped the Da. Why? Why not?

See ya on the hunt!

Oh, man. If I had done that, well, it would not have been pretty. Just think of the things y'all wanted to do to Erik for his Introspection cache and multiply times 10.

What is the impact of changing your name on the GC website, or on this one as well?

I have been wanting to go by my other geo-nick (A Nord) for some time and wasn't too clear on what the effects would be.

The impact is minimal. You won't lose any hides or finds.

I did it by updating my GC.COM profile. My logs get updated with the new nick whenever the cache page is updated. I did have to manually change my nick on all my own caches, but that wasn't too hard. As for the GGA forums, updating my profile seemed to do the trick.

The only tricky part I had was that GC.COM seemed to have the name Rebel reserved. (If you try to change to an already-taken nick, it lets you know.) The software said that the name was alread in use, but Rebel had no finds or hides. Bless their pea-pickin' hearts they went ahead and let me change it after I asked about it via email.

Why do I see what looks like a caption icon with a flag under Rebel's avatar, but nobody else?

That little flag indicates that I've got MSN Messenger contact information in my profile.

Sometimes change is good. I figured I'd transition to something more easily pronounced. Wink

Besides, the little girl that used to call me "Erguk" has been able to say "Eric" correctly for several years now. Crying

OK, you're right; I should be more clear. I'm not dropping all of the a's. Only the first one. I'm switching from asagebrushgirl to sagebrushgirl.

BTW, Buffy the puppy is 12 weeks old!

Does that mean if I drop the A in A Nord I'll be THE Nord???

Don't think my brother will like that.

Regardless of what he likes, you'll still always be THE Nord to US! Or maybe THE Slayerette would be more appropriate.

I was thinking of that comedian who used to introduce himself by saying, "Hi, I'm A. Whitney Brown. Someday, perhaps I'll be THE Whitney Brown..."

A. Nord is probably better than if your first initial were F ... shades of the illuminati ...

Scott
