I bought one of Ramness' giant Geocaching car stickers, but I dont know of a good way to put it on. Its not the normal long strip of sticker but little individual cut out words. There are to pieces of adhesive paper (one in front and back), and I thought it could be applied by pulling off the front sheet and that the letters would stick and then stick them to my car but several attempts at this have led to all the stickers sticking to the strong piece of back adhevise paper. So does anyone have any suggestions? I emailed Ramness but he may be out of town as when I emailed him his last GC.com visit was a week ago from Sunday.

First off, to get the decals to stick to the front paper, place the decal face down on a flat surface. Do your best to keep it flat as you do this. Get some sort of sharp knife -- an exacto is the best but a small pocket knife will do. Start peeling the backing paper back. Go slowly, and as you get to a letter use the knive edge to pick the decal off of the backing paper so it stays on the front paper. It can be a slow process at times, but take your time and maybe you can get it.
To install the decal, take a drop of Joy dishwashing liquid and add it to about 16 ounces of water. Stir it in. Don't use Windex because the ammonia in it does not work. Other dishwashing liquids will work, but Joy is the best based on its formulation. Wash your hands so they are very clean. Wash the glass as well. Dry the glass with a lint free cloth so you can check it for dirt or fingerprints. Take a sponge or lint free wrag of some kind and use it to wet the surface of the glass with the solution you have created. It won't stay completely covered, but just get it as wet as you can. Then, wet the sticky part of the decal with your fingers if you can. You can now put the decal on and you will be able to slide it around a little if you need to. Using your driver's license, hold the decal and try to force the water out from under the decal. Take a towel and dry off the excess water and soap. It may move some as you do this, so watch the positioning as you get finished. Let it dry for at least an hour or two (or longer if you can). If you continue to have problems and if you can hold off until the March meeting I would be happy to get that installed for you. That's what I do for a living! I am tentative for the meeting and can let you know as we get closer, but I would be happy to help if I am there. |

That would be great if you could help at the meeting. Ill hold off on putting it on, in case you can get down here. Thanks.

. . . without a cache. |
FWIW whenever I need a "lint-free cloth" I get a bunch of coffee filters and use 'em instead. Never had a problem, and relatively cheap to use.

Just a note:
Boy I sure would like that 'SkyBlue' sticker on the side of MY truck! - hehe "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb |

Hey AR, there's a solution to the scrathes on your geo-mobile. Get more decals and cover them up. Or find a sponsor to wrap your mobile in advertising and pay you to drive it around!

AR, I find a spray bottle with your solution in it works best for wetting the surfaces.

WOW!
Just doing a search for something and run across this old thread. mtn-man, looks like you and I have something in common! I work for a sign shop here in Rome, and we get to do a few wraps from time to time. Next time we get together we'll have to talk shop! Here's our shop van. I designed it and the graphics in the front windows there. Boss & one of the other guys did most of the installation of the van wrap, but I got to help a little bit. Hey, that's really nice looking. I love the transition from the side to the hood. Nice attention to detail. We stress that when doing a design on a wrap.
