About a month ago Goss(Donna) moved into a new apartment.

Last night it burnt down. She was at work, so she was not injured, but her Beloved cats Toby and Lizzie were still there. Toby was able to get out, but Lizzie is still missing.

We won't know until later today when she can go back to assess the damage, but I am planning on being there Saturday to help. But from the outside, it looks like a total loss.

I had decided yesterday morning to go to the CITO, but I am needed elsewhere. It really wasn't a hard decision to make...Friends come first.

Slay, it seems at times there is nothing more devastating than a home fire. I've never experienced it myself but have close friends who have been through it. I feel for her.

Yes, home fires cause a particular anguish for the Lacy's.

I am glad she was not injured, and I hope she had renter's insurance.

Was this an apartment complex where there were others in the same building or some other type of establishment?

I hope the other cat is located and that she had renters insurance to replace some of her belongings.

If Goss needs anything as far as necessities to hold her temporarily, please post here. I'm sure I can round up some stuff here.

Please send our condolences to Goss for us too. We have 4 cats and a dog, so we know how tragic the loss of a pet is. We'll watch this thread to see what she may need.

Please note that our daughter works for the Cobb Emergency Vet Clinic and they get access to stray kittens so she may be able to help with info on getting one should Goss want one.

I just got word from Goss that they found Lizzie. She was hiding in what is left of the apartment...And she is fine. Very Scared, but alive. There is some good news.

I have contacted the powers that be here at work to find underthings in her size from the Sample room. We are going thru the house to find some shirts to wear. Since Her legs are twice as long as mine I will be going by Old Navy to pick up some jeans and then to Target for shoes. Her Mom will be here tomorrow for clothes shopping so I'm not going all out...yet.

I think as soon as the smoke clears, It will be more clear what she'll need. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the support. I just read all the posts to her and she was genuinely touched.

I went through an apartment fire many moons ago. Not fun at all.

Please take the kitties to the vet for a checkup. Cats are tough, but sometimes the toxic stuff present in a fire can mess them up and not be readily apparent.

Anything we can do for her, please let us know.

I heard about it on the news (radio).

Sorry for the loss of her stuff.
Glad the kitties made it through it all.

Anything we can do?
When someone on our streets house burned, we gave them cash so they could get what they needed.
Any way to take up a collection? Maybe at/before the CITO?

To all of you- Thank You!

The coconut telegraph has been abuzz all day with well-wishes and good thoughts. I am fine- I have more-than-adequate food and shelter. Both cats are fine (mostly); in fact the not-fine cat is my Number 3 kitty Neko, who has been enjoying a reign as Solo Kitty Head Mistress of the Household at my boyfriend's place for the last two months. She's not pleased with the new arrivals.

I have enough basic items to get me through the next few days, Santa Slay showed up with a sackfull of goodies and a tub of Goldfish. My mother is comming up tomorrow, and I all sorts of wonderful people who want to help are comming out of the woodwork. Thanks to All of You!

As far as basic household needs- I just don't know. I've got a few options avaliable for living situations, so I just need to figure out which one to choose.

But hey...at least the GPS is ok! Heart

Gosh, I'm glad everyone is ok.

I've been out of town and had no idea until tonight that this had befallen Goss. I'll echo what others have already said - if you need anything let me know and I'll try to help.

I'm particularly glad that the kitties and GPS are ok. When you've got your health and your GPS and cats you've got everything. Wink
