Hello.
I may be moving to Atlanta in Jan to go to Georgia State and was wondering if anyone had any good apartment recommendations or what not. Im looking for something either downtown or midtown. Basically something inside the perimeter North of the city near a Marta Rail line.
I have done some searching on my own through rent.com only tovist some apartment ratings sites to basically see that most of the ones I liked had horrible reviews.
Thanks.

There are a LOT of student apartments around the Home Park area, beside Georgia Tech. Most of the time if you just drive around and pick up numbers you can connect with someone who's got an apartment. I used to work in that area, but don't now. I'd recommend just taking a weekend and coming into town and driving around a bit. I know....I know that means gas....sorry. There's also the new Atlantic Station area but I suspect it will be pricy, despite the fact that it was built on a toxic waste site. I've heard that with all the displaced people from Katrina, housing in Atlanta may tighten up significantly. Have you considered University of West Georgia? Housing out here is significantly less. Just a thought.

I would have suggested some place in Vinings/Smyrna until you mentioned MARTA access. Am afraid I don't know any areas around the rail lines well at all.

Should you change your mind on that criteria, Vinings/Smyrna, is only a 20-25 min trip to GSU on the backroads. I know cause I attended grad school there and lived in Vinings at the time.

My son goes to Ga. Tech, lives in a frat. They usually rent rooms to Ga. State students when they don't have enough frat brothers to fill all the rooms. Ga. State is a simple bus ride from Ga. Tech. That's another option to pursue, if you don't mind sharing a room.
