There is a sunflower festival in Rutledge July 1 & 2. If you are looking for a family type event I recommend this. I went last year and it was just a great little festival. You can go out in the sunflower fields and cut as many sunflowers as you can stuff in a vase for $5. They have pruning shears there for you to use and everything.
They also have exhibitors selling their wares. It isn't the yellow daisy festival by any means but it is just a nice little festival. If you go, go on saturday when they have the tractor parade http://www.sunflowerfarmfestival.com/ |

You know, you always amaze me with the wealth of knowledge you have about such esoteric events! Just kidding - it really sounds like fun.
Cache, responsibly..... |

Thanks for the heads up Redworm.
The whole family got out early Saturday morning and had a great time. We saw the antique tractor parade, made sand art, listened to music, met an inventor of a cool toy, ate sno cones, picked two vases of beautifulsunflowers from the 12 acres of sunflowers and sweat like stuck pigs. It was great. We headed from there to Hard Labor State Park and went swimming in the lake to cool off. Ate bbq from a family set up on the side of the road in Rutledge. Headed to Madison to see the sights. What a great day and we wouldn't have known if you hadn't thought to mention it. Thank you !! -Sushi of the fisherKings |
