I recently setup my first website. I created the pages using Microsoft Word. I noticed something interesting about how fonts are displayed on different computers. I chose a unique font for my Header text, but when the web page was displayed on my girlfriend's computer the Header text was displayed in Times Roman font, not the font I had originally chosen.

Is there a way for me to include the font I want display in my HTML file? I would like folks to be able to see the font that I selected.

TIA for your help!

So many variables, with so many browsers and different OS's on the market. The only sure-fire way to make sure they see what you want with fonts, is to make a graphic outta them.
You can get really crative with it, too!
phat.bak's phollies
Just post if you have a need.

phat.bak's right. Lot's of variables.

The problem lies in the HTML needing the font to be resident on the viewer's computer in order for it to display. If it's not there, the HTML usually will default to Times New Roman. It is possible to set up alternatives in your HTML. Possible, but not worth it if an effect was what you were after.

Other than storing the font file somewhere and providing a link for folks to download it, or using Microsoft standard fonts, phat.bak's suggestion of creating an image using the font and then inserting the image is an excellent get-around. See my Happy Rebel Dance cache for an example. I created the image using the dancing men font, then inserted it.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm... One presumes Yoyo Man would already know of this technique. It was applied to one of his caches, preceeding Happy Rebel Dance, was it not?

OK, NEW question.

I'm looking for software recommendations. The software should be able to "automatically", thru the use of a wizard, be able to create HTML Photo Galleries. I've used ACDSee 6.0, but I was hoping to find something that gave me a little more control of the layout.

Yes, I've searched the web for such software and I've found boocoo's of packages. I was hoping to get personal recommendations based on packages you may have used and LIKED.

You can see an example of what ACDSee 6.0 can produce by checking out the following link:

Thanks for your help!

Wish I could help on this one, but can't. I use the Photoshop Gallery option, and they don't look much different than what you already have. If I want changes, I just edit the html to suit, after Photoshop makes it.

BTW - looks like a heckuva party!

There is a way to embed a font into a web page, but it's a PITA. If it's not much text, I would suggest making an image out of it. That way you can control the font.

As far as photo galleries, I use photoshop also or hand code the stuff myself into a thumbnail template. I then just add the photo file names to the template each time I create a page.

Sorry, not much help I suppose.

Wait. I'm confused. What does "Pendulum’s Intelligence Thought Aptitude" have to do with it? Tounge
