. . . without a cache. |
I find it interesting that he invests all that time and equipment into making ice lenses. It just seems to me far easier to just "flick a Bic."
It is interesting, though. I wonder if the ice lens will work on ants? --------------------- Live Well, Harm None |

I think it is more about the processes and doing it to say it can be done. Like some people say....its the journey, not the destination. I learned some stuff from reading the content. I thought another page on that site about starting fire with water (and a plastic baggie) was very good info to have. I usually have a lighter in my backpack, but I could see where you might be out without one and having just ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a wintertime flood hit...you might need to start a fire Kenneth |

Seems that might work in Mexico and maybe extreme southern US parts in the Summer, but it doesn't seem shiny enough to work most of the time.
I was thinking about this thread recently with the summer approaching. Maybe we can plan to attempt some of these items at an upcoming meeting, GGA or NGC. reepicheep |

Check some of the recent "Mythbusters" episodes. Recently they had one which tested the coke can and ice fire starters. Interesting episode.
BTW, I made a coke can starter that works really well. Combined it with the drink can alcohol stove and now I have a nifty little backpacking item. Now I only need a little time to go backpacking... S-4-C |
