One thing these forums don't have is a spell checker. This was one thing that was a problem for us when we looked at these Infopop forums. In talking to st_richardson at the meeting this weekend he suggested a solution and sent me an email. I think his solution works GREAT! It is so neat that I thought I would pass it on.
http://www.iespell.com/ It works via a right click as you are typing in the "post" window. It also adds a selection in your "Tools" section of the toolbar. I figured I would say a public thank you to st_r. |

I put it into perspective.
As long as the President of the United States still doesn't mind saying "nuc-u-lar" in front of the entire country, I'm not going to worry too much about my spelling. -- Scott Johnson (ScottJ) |

You may not even need a spell checker.
This is really weird to read, but it works. This was on slashdot.org's website: Link to Website Article Can You Raed Tihs? An aoynmnuos raeedr sumbtis: "An interesting tidbit from [0]Bisso's blog site: Scrambled words are legible as long as first and last letters are in place. Word of mouth has [1]spread to [2]other [3]blogs, and [4]articles as well. From the languagehat site: 'Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe. ceehiro.' Jamie Zawinski has also [5]written a perl script to convert normal text into text where letters excluding the first and last are scrambled." I got a copy of it in email and then checked the web, and found it is all over it. A new Urban Legend (defined by how it spreads, no matter if true or not). There already is an article about it on snopes.com.

I got this in my e-mail, in two separate versions, four times yesterday.
I have also discovered that you can take any speech by a politician, rearrange the letters any way you like, and he'll still be a scumbag. -- Scott Johnson (ScottJ) |

I use iespell all the time -- particularly for emails and posts in Groundspeak, or any other online composing. Wonderful embarrassment eraser. Thanks again, Mtn-man!
