Put a big circle on your calendar around Saturday, Nov. 18. If that night is clear, bundle up warmly and head outside because you may be able to catch a glimpse of an intense, albeit brief display of Leonid meteors.

If you go out right now, you can see the Orionid meteor shower. It has been building over the last week or so. The peak is later this week on Saturday 10/22 after 1 AM when Orion rises (Friday night - Saturday morning). The later you stay up the better they get as Orion rises to the zenith. Here is a good page to show you where the radiant is. With no moon, they should be visible fairly well.
The International Space Station (ISS) will also pass almost directly over Acworth this evening; from SW to NE. Visible at 7:54:29 PM to 7:59:09 PM with peak at 7:57:20 PM. We saw it early one morning last week and it was quite a sight. Hopefully this fog will burn off and it will start clearing later today.
Last big meteor shower it was just me and Shark. It was great. So the ladies got interested and we got the whole family in the back yard at 12:15am. All bundled up. 9-yr-old Shark couldn't stay awake. And we saw maybe one streak. Bummer.
5-yr-old Guppy had a great attitude when I told her I was sorry we didn't see more of the meteor shower. She said "that's okay Daddy. The stars in the sky were pretty to look at."
So it turned out just fine after all.

Was at a friend's house in woodstock, we all broke away from the warm indoors at 11:30 and stood in the garden for 30 minutes and didn't see a thing. shame really, would have been cool to see them.
