This weekend we hadd a little school retreat and the speaker ahd his latop connected to a projector for PowerPoint. He wanted to play a short clip of DVD using his laptop and the Projector. However when he put the DVD in his laptop and open Windows Media Player everything on the laptop was normal and the movie began to play, however on the projector everything looked normal except there was only blank space where the video was playing on the laptop. What was up with that?
After seeing the projector didnt work we tried to plug the laptop into the VCR using the red, white, yellow cords (TV was not equipped with them). His Sony VIAO laptop had an A/V Output plug (the plug like for a speaker) and the cord with the one pron on one end for the laptop and the three colored prongs on the other. We connect the cord to the VCR set the VCR to Video input and nothing happened. Why didnt this work? Do you ahve to turn on the A/V Ouput, and yes the TV was set to the right channel for the VCR.

Happy Hunting! Smile

Since the Powerpoint did display, I suspect that the issue with the DVD was an incompatibility between the laptop's video and the projector. Since laptop screens are typically fairly low resolution, they often have drivers that are less capable than desktop machines that have separate video cards. The older the laptop the more common this situation is.
