I've been hired to do the web work for a politician (local) for both an upcoming re-election and subsequent web info page (if re-elected). I can do the work, no problem. But, I have no idea of how much to charge as I've only done it for myself and as a volunteer.

Can anyone give me a ball park figure? If you want to discuss specifics, please take it to email. handlere at gmail dot com.

Tx!

I can't answer the "how much to get paid" question, but I can answer the "when to get paid" question.

Get all of you money up front!

If you don't and he looses, expect your work to be a "donation".

Oh, yeah. That's a given. I just have no idea of how much to ask for. I'd just ask for $100K up front as I'm so worth it, but then the realities of the marketplace kick in. Laughing

Thanks, Reep! It's clear to me that I've much more research to do. Both in finding out my client's requirements and how I'll meet them.

Our PTA is making a website and we priced 2 places. One will make us a logo and 3 page website for $100 and the other will do no logo and a 5 page website with hosting for the 1st year for $150.

They said that was the non-profit prices since we are a PTA.

Don't know if that helps you any.

A lot of it seems to deal with complexity, and I don't just mean number of pages.

I mean, you can get a blog to set up and it is trivial for the net-savvy and not much worse for those who aren't afraid of a readme file.

It's the graphics and customization which are the pricier part.
