Filled up the Envoy this afternoon here in Rome.
It's not on the georgiagasprices.com site, but at the Cowboys/BP on Turner McCall Blvd the gas was $2.74/gal.
That's on the east side of town.

Now riddle me this?
Same company, same gas, same major road through town, but on the west side of town (about 5 miles apart) it was $2.89/gal.

I had noticed the price difference 2 days ago, so I made a mental note to wait until I was on that side of town this afternoon before I filled up.
Dang near ran dry before I had time to stop this afternoon.
25 gallon gas tank and it took almost 24 gallons to fill up. AT $64.00!!!

GOD! I can remember how bad I thought it was because it cost $14.00 to fill up my '69 Camaro when I got my first car in '83 Laughing
Of course, I was paying for my own gas for the first time in my life too and not depending on Mom & Dad to buy it for me. Razz

Also don't forget --- Friday night at midnight the gas tax moratorium goes off so Saturday morning we should see a pretty big jump in prices. Fill up tomorrow while you can.

On a weird note, after looking at californiagasprices.com, while their avg is 3 cents higher than GA averages. Gas seems to be somewhat cheaper than Georgia in some areas.
Im guessing the spikes today are in preparation for the tax coming back.

Gas on the Lake is down to $3.50
Filled up this past weekend. It took 100 gals @ 3.50 = $350.00 OUCH but I put diesel fuel in the GeoBus @ $3.29 per gal and 150 gals = $493.00 double OUCH. Total fuel bill for the weekend $843.00. Makes that $50.00 fill up look like a real bargain

It's a matter of degrees

We can only HOPE!!

We were laughing Confused last night at a movie that we were watching. It was made just last year, and it showed a guy filling up at a gas station and the price was $1.58 a gallon!! Crying

At least the high gas prices got us a break on the cabin that we reserved for our annual weekend before thanksgiving trip!!
When I called to reserve it this morning they had a $25 Gas Allowance Discount going on!!
Plus we also saved 10% because we were staying 3 nights!!
Volunteer Cabin Rentals Specials Page

If anyone is looking for a nice cabin to stay in, in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, then we highly recommend these!
We have been staying with them for the past 4 years. 6 trips & 6 different cabins, and we have yet to get one that was less than stellar!!

On our trips up to Western NC, we cut through Toccoa and Clayton and have always noticed the gas prices are cheaper there than in the ATL area. Why is that?

I noticed the same thing yesterday through Toccoa. The price is higher here probably because............THEY CAN DO SO. We've stopped complaining, so precedences are are being made to make more profit.

Don't say you can't, say you'll try.

At one time during the "crisis" I read/heard that the Atlanta metro gasoline is a different grade to reduce emissions output.
Supposedly they dropped the requirement for a while when they also dropped the tax.
Most likely it is back with the tax.
Supply of that gas type might be less and thus more expensive.

Not sure to the validitidy of that but it makes sense.
If anyone knows more details, feel free to educate me.

That ExxonMobil is presently thriving means it is successfully doing its part to help ease today’s oil shortage.

This is copy and paste from a conservative publication I came across as I googled “oil company profits”. GollyGeeWilkers, guys, thanks a bunch! We dummies need some smart guys like you to do things for our own protection. When we immature children clamor for more cake and candy, you just up the cost!

Actually I tend to agree with the article, however an oil company’s altruism is indeed suspect. These businesses are all about profit and your well being is meaningless unless you cease to be a consumer. Why is gasoline cheaper in NE GA? Because there is a smaller ratio of damnfools up there than in the big city. Here is a typical metro dweller. 1. Stop at the service station in a leased monster-mega 2000 hp hawg with great shiny hubcaps that continue to turn after it stops, with one person inside. Gas credit card is maxed out, so give the attendant a five dollar bill and pump. 2. Pull out in traffic tailgating the small economy car until he pulls over at the first chance, flip the bird, romp on the gas. 3.Stop at the next stop light. Put the pedal to the metal when it turns green to tailgate the small economy car which passed at the traffic light. Repeat steps 1 to 3.

We have met the enemy and he is us. Pogo
