Thanx for all of the prayers and thoughts for Ricky Brown. As of tonite he is still alive.
He is semi-comatose and is being moved to Jackson, MS, for extensive brain activity evaluation. If he does survive there will be much paralysis, if not in a vegetative state. Still on life support and not much brain activity, but will lift his right hand to 'shake' with anyone that enters the room.
I know it is not ours to question the powers that be, so I don't.
Your thoughts and prayers are still welcomed.
Thanks everyone for your concern and well wishes.
God Bless you all.

There's been nuns praying for him these last couple weeks. They probably have a better connection to the big guy than me. I had a cousin that woke up out of a coma after 17 years. Talk to him, read to him, and live in hope, but plan for reality. Peace and prayers.

Again, I would like to express my deepest thanks for the prayers that have been said for Ricky Brown.

I just got word that he has passed on to a better place. It is for the best.

Life is too short, so embrace all the joy while you can. Remember, we are all here together. Make the best of it.

May God bless you all.

Oh man...I'm sorry. I guess it was his time.
Glad he is in a better place now.

I've been chatting with him on another web board we both frequent. His spirits are suprisingly high. And he said all the neighbors were cracking jokes with one another, while salvaging this past weekend, with regards to the cars and that he should really clean up his house once in a while cause it's a dump, lol. I honestly don't know how they do it. I'd be in tears if that were my home.

Good thing is that his daughter is finally making friends at Sprayberry and as soon as the insurance claim goes through, they'll be purchasing a home in the Marietta/Kennesaw area.

Sorry phat.bak. I know its been tough.

We are going to make the run to my aunt's house this weekend. We have confirmed that she had about 10 feet of water inside the house from the floor level, basically almost to the ceiling. When the contractor made entry into the house to get her jewelry, the front door fell apart at his feet. He had to screw the storm door in place to seal the house back up. He was gagging from the smell as he went into the house. We are going to have chemical respirators when we go in. We will leave our clothes in the house when we leave to be bulldozed with the house. We will be searching for crystal and porcelain objects and anything else we think is salvageable. I don't think it will be much. I will post pictures as well.

Mtn Man, My friend Chip said the smell is enough to knock you out. His place flooded up to 3" in the 2nd floor. Anything touching the floor was left for garbage and even what wasn't touched by water had mold and smelled gawd awful. He had those new ziplock storage bags... the big ones and said he put stuff in those to keep from gagging on the smell while he moved the items in his vehicle. He also wore a hazmat suit cause the neighborhood reeked of sewage.

Made a quick run back down to Looziana this weekend and took a few more pix. Our camp looks pretty good after we cleaned it up. Even spent Saturday nite camping in it, with a generator supplying power for lights and a window AC.

I'm sure it is bittersweet in so many ways. I hope you can plant a moon tree in honor of Ricky down there someday.

Steve, the pictures just amaze me every time that I see a new set...I'm glad things are starting to head in a normal direction though I realize that normal is probably a long way off.

I've gotta learn to do that. I'll be in NO, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette next week on a whirlwind culinary tour business trip to La.

Wish I was going with ya. Haven't been to NOLA since Katrina, but always loved Felix's Oyster Bar in the Quarter for relaxed dining and the Old Absinthe House for late night libations. It's not as 'touristy' as Pat O'Briens.
