Why did he dislike it?

Pages like this scrape data from the site. We could be identified as a nusance and possibly a threat (though he would know who the GGA is and see that it is an observation page only). He does not mind it if people use it in banners in signature lines, but to have an advertised page with stats banners like this takes away resources as these hit the site in mass. That is why I never linked it on our web page.

Well technically the page isn't a web/screen scraper. A scraper can be defined as

This page isn't generated by running a program, nor is any information extracted from graphics.

Now grand_high_pobah, is running a program to get "high profile" pages and extracting geonicks and find counts. This is a web scraper.

Where the GGA page might be in conflict with the gc TOS, is the section that says
