Elachee Nature Center has asked the geocachers to again support them by holding a GPS/Geocaching class for their summer school aged day campers.

Join us on July 12th if you can.

Here's a link to the event cache listing.
And here's a
link to last year's discussions.

Thanks,
~erik~

I went out this morning and hid ten caches for the kiddies to find. Let me know if you can join us and I'll send you the coords and hints.

I spent a half hour at the trail head after hiding the caches to pick blackberries. Got about a pint to take home, and ate a bunch too. Yum. Smile

Looks like it was a good day, but with lots of snakes! I don't remember that suspension bridge - is that new or is there a part of the park I have not found?

There were only two snakes seen, but the second was a whooper. The kids thought it was an anaconda. Wink

The bridge is a bit over a year old. It's near the place where you used to have to either ford the river or tight-walk over a fallen tree and hope you didn't fall in. Apparently earlier bridges had washed away, so they replicated the suspension bridge over the Tocoa River (I think it is) on the Benton MacKaye trail.

Here's a picture of the snake. I did NOT take this picture - I wasn't getting anywhere near the thing. However, Kimberly of the EBBJr team was a lot braver than me and snapped several pictures with my camera.

Glad I couldn't make it this year. A rattlesnake is not something I want to accidentally step on Wink
