I hear the faint beginning strains of the fat lady as she begins the final aria. Its over.
The entire City of Boston got shut down because two hippies stuck some little electronic gismos advertising the cartoon network in various and sundry places. The citizens freaked and the police and emergency management government workers got involved. The terrorists and fear mongers have won. What would the Boston Police have done had they found an olive drab ammo can with "ammuniton" stamped on it. Fox News AKA "Bush's Toads" have been screaming bloody murder and are calling for jail terms for the hippies. The City of Boston is considering making the cartoon network pay $75000 for the time it took for the police to remove the scary little men!!! For me it was funny until I read about the monetary damages. I will be very hesitant to put out any more caches.

Actually, I have an Aunt that lives in Medford, right outside Boston, that I could ask to watch my cache.

Wonder why they couldn't figure out it wasn't a bomb after inspecting the first one....maybe the ad guy at Fitzgerald in Atlanta was right... their long johns are alittle too tight in Boston.

Yep, they seem to have SOMETHING too tight up there in Mass. But unfortunately, I don't think this is an incident which can be just written-off as north-east-big-city paranoia. If these little lighted signs got these folks all stirred up, I can't imagine what a duct tape covered container attached to a guard rail or light post would do to them. Mass. hysteria?

IMHO Geocaching.com should address this issue more aggressively before it becomes a problem. But in the meantime, we should all think about the caches we have out there and consider removing those which could cause an incident. If it is a suspicious container in a public place or near a building, it is a potential problem. And yep, that describes a BUNCH of geocaches.

One of those things was on the entrance to the Peachtree Center MARTA station the day all that happened. I did not know what it was, just figured it was a joke. Then I saw all the Boston stuff so I took a friend down to the Marta station a few hours later to show them, and it was gone. Apparently they pulled them from all cities right after this happened.
