Thanks rockhopper for telling me about geocaching. Didn't have a gps yet, but located the coordinates on a Delorme topoquad program and printed a map. Got lucky! Sherry found it, but stabbed her finger with your pocket knife. Left a whistle." Adults and older kids should be able to cope with finding a cache with a knife in it without going bezerk and turning into a slasher. And young kids -- which I assume "Sherry" is -- should not geocache unsupervised. The "knife" could just as easily been broken glass, or a snake, or a scorpion, of a yellow jacket nest, or.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gossamyrrh Registered Geocacher (11/6/01 10:09:50 pm) Re: Another reason not to leave pocket knives in caches "but I think all this to-do over knives in caches is silly, just silly" In a perfect world, it would be. Yes, it could be broken glass, yellow jackets, ect....but you can't neccesarily place direct blame on those. In a C.Y.A.W.P. maneuver, I specifically requested on my info sheet for Shifting Tides to NOT leave any knives. If I find a knife in the cache, I remove it. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ GeneGarris Registered Geocacher (3/3/02 2:03:32 pm) Re: Another reason not to leave pocket knives in caches I think that if you had left a trash bag that same person whom cut herself would have placed that bag over her head and suffocated on the side of the trail. |
