My son and I often go caching together. For the first couple years it didn't even occur to me to get him his own ID. We signed him up an account a little over a year ago. He didn't start logging or collecting his own smileys until that day.

So my question is, what's your feeling on backlogging the ones we found together so he can get credit for those finds? He found it with me, he just didn't sign the log since he didn't have a geonick yet. Maybe we could create log entries mentioning something like "Found with my dad and signed as WakeboardLanier".

I'm not sure how I'd do it yet. A GSAK filter for " son" or " boy" shows all the ones where I mentioned him being there in my log. Turned up a boatload!! It would take a while but I could log each one of those using his account and the date we found it.

What do you think? Uncool since his geonick isn't on the logs? Go for it since he found them and should get credit for them?

Hey it's fine. Just mention he was there with his dad!

I've had to do it for my "Kids"...

I think it is probably fine. I like your idea for "Found with Dad, signed as..."

When we found our first-ever geocache we didn't have a team name or geocaching.com account. LOL. We signed it with our three initials. Over a year later we logged the darn thing under our team nic. (It took us ages to figure out the name of the cache as it was in another town. We finally had to drive to the cache and use our iPhones to find out its name so we could log it.

Alright, y'all talked me into it. Big Grin Wasn't easy though. I ended up creating a field notes file which then got uploaded to GC.com. It contained 243 "Found it" field notes all correctly dated. Then the clicking began! Sorry for the recent flood. Wink I think Slayerette and Boca Bob were tied for 8 apiece.

Karmabottle, that's a really cool avatar.
