Geocacher

I have yet to hide a cache, and I have found a little park that would probably be a great spot for a cache. The powers that be say to contact the Parks and Rec. supervisor before placing a cache. Is this best done in writing with an explaination of geocaching? I know there are ALOT of caches in surrounding parks and just want to know the best procedure as this would be my first hide! Thanks for any help!

I'm pretty certain DeKalb (like Cobb and Gwinnett) is on board with cash placmeents - for instance, there was one in Blackburn Park...

So does this mean I don't have to do anything?

If it's a public park that does not specifically prohibit geocaches in a county that also accepts them I wouldn't hesitate to place a cache. Do make sure you've studied the geocaching guidelines though. We'd hate to see you place a cache only to have it rejected because it's too near another cache, is buried, lacks a log book, or is otherwise in violation of those rules.

Enjoy!

Sorry for the delay. Had a blah day at work and auto A/C shop, amongst other things. No, you don't have to do anything. There are many, many caches spread throughout the local metro-area park systems - add Dekalb and Fulton to that list as well.

Heed what erik said, though. He might be the one approving it. Smile

Thanks for your help! I understood all the rules but that one. Believe me, I want the first cache to work so I will do my best to follow all the guidelines. Now to do some shopping for the cache! I really appreciate the advise.
