Hi,
I'll be participating in this the weekend after next:

quote:
We are hosting the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Outdoor Institute on September 22 at McDaniel Farm. I was wondering if you would be interested in coming out and giving a 1.5 hour class on GPS: How they work and how to use them, along with a segment during that time about Geocache's and the GA group.

I committed to Dr. Mark Patterson that I'd be there from 10:30 to 12:00, would hide some temporary caches beforehand. If anyone would like to help out please let me know. The location is the same as the August GGA meeting (though I'm not sure if we'll be in the same pavilion). This would be a good way to meet and work with some of the folks who make decisions about geocaching in the parks they manage.

Is GGA participating in Outdoor Adventure Day at Unicoi Sate Park? I know about it from my flyfishing contacts. It is typically the last weekend in September. If you are interested, I can get a contact.

I should be good to go that weekend and will plan to be there to help. Do you need any help setting out the temporary caches? I have some extra ammo cans you can borrow if you need them.

Thanks Mertat. Your help would be great.

I don't think we'll need the ammocans - I've still got eight or ten of the cammo covered lock&locks.

Beth, we hadn't been asked by Unicoi. However there is no reason why GGA members like yourself couldn't assist if you'd like to spearhead that. GGA members did a great job on Earth Day at Stone Mountain Park, for example, at an event that none of the steering committee members were able to participate in. We're all ambassadors for our sport. Smile

I understand - just wanted to see if anyone here had heard about it. On that day, I'll be volunteering at a Kid's Fishing Event at Buford Dam.

If anyone else is interested in contacting the coordinator for Outdoor Adventure Day, shoot me an email and I will find the contact.
