As you can tell, I am cleaning out my email. Here is another topic starter...that we have had on many occasion...That came from the weekly notifications from Geocaching.com. Yes it's just cut and paste.

You never know when the urge to geocache will hit, so it is a good idea to keep your geocaching bag stocked and ready. While a lot will depend on where you are caching (city? woods?) and with whom you are caching (kids? dogs?), below is a list of some of the most common and handy items you might find in a well-stocked geocaching bag:

- GPS unit and extra batteries
- Swag for trading
- Cache printouts or PDA for paperless caching
- Extra logbooks and pencils
- Water and snacks
- Flashlight
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellant
- Rain poncho
- Tool kit
- First aid kit

What I take varies depending where the geocache is in relationship to the parking area. You can see what I have for a full blown day hike to geocache. The list includes
1. CamelBak Blowfish pack. with the thermometer/compass on the zipper.
2. Powerbar
3. Tuna Salad for a quick Lunch
4. Spare 4 AA Alkaline
5. Vest for hunting season
6. Pack of crackers
7. Another Powerbar
8. Small pair of binoculars
9. Rechargeable batteries
10. Trash bags
11. Extra Ziplocs
12. First aid kit and wetwipes good for washing off poison ivy and dirt,
13. Sawyer Extractor Snake bite kit
14. Compass
15. Note pad
16. Pen for taking notes and writing logs
17. TP just in case
18. Trade goods including a spare log book
19. Emergency Rain Poncho
20. Bug repellent

I also have my GPS, Cell Phone and digital camera with me but they aren't in the back pack. Also in the winter the CamelBak has room for holding layers and gloves as I remove them.

This list is from 2003 and I haven't really changed it since.
