Get enough people together and we could rent a houseboat (or two) for an event.

Kenneth

P.s. I don't think Andymand's raft should be included in any of the hunts. Gilligan's Island

Looks like we have 14-16 expressing interest so far, and possibly more when this thread gets attention. My boat is rated for 6 persons or 750 pounds. I'm sure Trez' can hold more. We might be able to get a special group rate on a 'party barge'. It's something to look at. I'll see if I can find out something.

Trez - email me - possible event cache?

Trez and I figure that late May (or early June) would be the best time as the weather/water has warmed up a bit, but it's not too hot as it would be in the middle of summer.
Here are a few ideas -
1: A party barge that holds 16 people runs about $400 for 8 hours. That works out to about $30 per person. One that holds 12 works out to about the same cost per person.
2: With another boat or two we wouldn't need a barge, unless ya just want one. Anybody else gotta boat?
3: Combination of the above - depending on the amount of people committed.
4: Two shifts with what we have to accomodate. Probably wouldn't get to all the caches available. I don't mind making the round twice, and I don't think Trez would either (although I didn't ask him on this - surprise!)
5: (Expanded on #4) Two separate Saturday trips with what we have to accomdate. Again, I don't mind - I just love being on the water)

Am now soliciting ideas/suggestions/thoughts. Remember, this is in the very EARLY planning stages. Would love to see this thing come about.
Whatcha think?

I love it! Trez and Phat.bak, you have the podium! Figure it all out and I'll be there with my $30 plus gas money! And I'll help in any way else I can! The only thing I love more than geocaching is BOATS! Thumbs Up

About all I can offer is my 30 bucks and a canoe that can be towed so folks can make excursions to shore.

Late May or early June can work. How about a rollup at the May 8 GGA meeting?

My 17 footer will carry me and 3 or 4 others. May or June would be good, the only drawback being heavy boat traffic that time of year on weekends. Best bet is to get out there early, before the big cruisers turn the lake into 4 foot seas.

I wanna go too. I'm sure I can get $30 together and bring along a six pack of your favorite beverage. Smile (for the non-drivers of course) I like the idea of doing it in the slightly warmer weather. Lemme know what you folks decide.

Just thinking out loud ....
With your boat, we might not need a party barge. (Individual cost would be much lower.)
So far in this thread, we have 17 'bodies' that have expressed interest.
IF I take 4 (maybe 5 - me included)
AND you take 4 (you included - maybe 1 more if needed)
AND Trez takes 9 (maybe 10 with a couple on the bow - his words) on his 'real' boat, that would cover it, so far.
That's not including Cymbaline's offer for 3 to ride on his 'Lake Stallions', if needed.

In addition to the $30, I would offer my Herve Villechaize special*, but I think (and I believe Ken would agree with me) that it's better suited for paintball-gun practice while it's being towed behind a "real" boat. Razz

Anyway, please count me in for the (sings) "three-hour tour...a three-hour tour". Wink

They're fun to ride, but as you've already noticed and pointed out, they'd have to be part of a larger armada or barge - something to tie-up to when stopped, etc. Driving onto a beach isn't a problem in them either, of course. Smile

I'm definitely interested in attending - with our without the "Lake Stallions".
