If you are placing a cache in Gwinnett County, you can find out who owns a property (such as a cemetery) in this way: browse to www.gwinnettcounty.com then follow the links to Departments > Information Technology Services > Geographic Information Systems > GIS Data Browser. In the "Search tools" on the left, click "find address". Fill in the pop-up box and click "find address" in that pop-up. The data browser will zoom to that property in a map. click the "i" (for identify)in the icons on the right, and then click on the parcel/property in question. A window pops up. Click Assessor Information. Click Owner Information. Now you know who owns that parcel and you can ask permission to place caches.

The same type of mapping service is available in Hall County.

You can also find that information for most counties in the State of GA at the following website:

Cherokee County has a similar web site. I used it to determine who owned the land around the Donelson Furnace cache and another furnace site in the area. I was surprised to learn that part of the roadway between the National Cemetery and the Donelson cache was owned by Georgia Power Company.
