Geocacher![]() ![]() |
The November Georgia Geocachers Association meeting was held on November 11, 2006, in Savannah at the Coastal Georgia Center at 2:00 PM. Since it was the Veterans Day Weekend there was a lot of activity in and around downtown. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the Veterans Day Parade through the historic area of the city.
As usual Savannah and its resident cachers provided an interesting array of caches to hunt before and after the meeting. The attendance at the meeting totaled 57 people including 14 present GGA members under 12 geonicks and 30 new GGA members under 20 geonicks. In addition to cachers from Georgia there were cachers from South Carolina and Florida in attendance also. Thanks goes to Johann Panholtz for planning and making arrangements for the meeting. John also had a varied collection of political posters retrieved from the local roadways on display in seeking suggestions for new CITO sites in the Savannah area. Johann Panholtz arranged two games for the occasion. One a bingo game which gave everyone in attendance and opportunity to meet and get to know each other better. BonoboFunky was the winner of the bingo game receiving a prepared ammo can geocache container as the winners prize. The four part caching challenge game was completed by 14 geocachers: GeorgiaSmiths, Nolelady, ileadstudents, cqedens137, MikeGolfj3; TaylorB, sights2C, change-is-good, BonoboFunky, RebelJedi, Keyeser67, legna and sOulbAit, PooNBoo, and MGB/FLW earning them enshirement in the November 2006 GGA Hall of Fame. Tarvol spoke briefly about the GGA and urged all of the new members to register on the GGA forums. Sissy-n-CR from Summerville, South Carolina had a variety of geocaching items including micro containers and coins on display for sale which were appreciated by those in attendance. This was the third year in a row that the GGA held its November meeting in Savannah and as usually the hospitality of the Savannah area geocachers and the City of Savannah was superb. |
