Georgia Geocachers Association
Meeting Minutes February 12, 2005 The February 2005 meeting was held at Folks Restaurant in Conyers. Although the weather was a little threatening, the attendance was quite high. There were 19 new members and 62 prior members present. Although the meeting officially started at 2:00 p.m., many members arrived early and enjoyed lunch and story swapping. Since we were in a public area of the restaurant, the actual meeting was kept very brief and the socializing very lively. Mtn-man took a few minutes to tell everyone about the plan to publish the GGA Newsletter. The intent is to help members who want to get the newsletter to stay abreast of current activities, announcements, meeting notices and such. Atlanta Gal has agreed to write the newsletter initially. It will be sent out via email once a month. Any member who wants to get the Newsletter should send an email to gganews-request@ggaonline.org. Subject should be: Subscribe. In the body of the email should be the single word, “subscribe” (without the quotes). A confirming email will be returned. If a member does not send the subscribing email, he/she will not get the newsletter. Mtn-man also touched briefly on the upcoming Geocaching.com rules changes regarding virtual, locationless and event caches. We will cover this topic more at the March meeting. Mtn-man then provided an update on the status of the Forest Service ban and our application for a permit to place geocaches. The application will be taken to the Forest Service in the next few days. While we did not have a door prize drawing, there were many Travel Bugs in the TB Corral, and all were swapped and claimed. Even rixart’s car was logged several times! After Mtn-man’s remarks, the group began to break up and go caching. The next GGA meeting will be held on March 12, 2005 in Griffin. |
