July 2007 GGA Meeting Notes

The July Georgia Geocachers Association meeting took place in middle Georgia at the Hepzibah Children's Home west of Macon. It was a very nice pavilion with a playground for the kids.

We counted a total in attendance of 61....there were several late arrivals and may have actually been a couple more...this number is men, women, and children... no dogs this time as the were actually not allowed by the Hepzibah home though we did have one in attendance...he was incognito, so Sambo is not in the totals.

The numbers included 14 new members under 11 geonicks, and 37 old members under 32 geonicks. It’s always great to meet new members, and get reacquainted with the old ones while they still have their memory. Eh, what’d you say?

Parents of Sam arranged for the meeting location, and Tarvol supplied drinks for the assembled multitudes. Thanks folks!

Rebel was our guest speaker. Ed gave an informative and humorous talk in how to turn a rusty old ammocan into a great looking geocache container. He also covered painting plastic such as lock&lock containers, cache hiding hints, and his experience with shaking a spray can that had a rusty bottom. Yikes!

As with all of our meetings, some snuck off to trade geocoins, pathtags, and in the case of the younger members of the Parents of Sam team, give away nifty “Peeps”. We also had the requisite raffle of valuable donated items and cache swag. Thanks to those who contributed to the raffle, and to those who put a few dollars in the “Cash Cache” to help with the pavilion rental.
