Just letting everyone know that Callaway is opening the Gardens to geocaching. We have worked with them to develop some geocaching guidelines. I will ask MTN-MAN to post those for us. We are kicking off with a "welcoming" event on October 20th. See GC16E9M. I hope you can join us for a fun filled day at Callaway. We will be meeting at the Discovery Center this Sunday at 10:00 am for a cache hide "event". We wanted to have caches there for everyone to enjoy on the 20th. If you would like to join us to hide a cache please contact me at tgbear14@aol.com so I can have your name added to the list. If your name is on the list you won't have to pay the admission fee. A little "thank you" from them for coming and hiding a cache in Callaway. If you would like to join us but later in the day then I'll give you my cell phone number and you can catch up with us.

They are very excited to get geocaching in the Gardens. They are looking for folks that would like to help with classes, setting up a geocaching program for the kids, and any other ideas folks can come up with. If you have any ideas or would be interested in working with Callaway please let me know.

Happy Caching!
Theresa

Too bad we (Geocaching) didn't make their AutumnFest: Color of Fall Weekend Calendar

Maybe they just need a reminder. Wink

Cache update - A group of volunteer cachers met at Callaway this past Sunday and hid 16 caches that will be approved Friday evening for the Saturday event. That gives a total of 20 caches hidden in the Gardens. We realize this is an event that requires a cost for admission so we wanted to be sure you got your monies worth. Happy Caching and hope we see you Saturday!

Theresa, Do we have a 'soft' copy of the Callaway Gardens Geocaching Guidelines and/or a link to them we may post here in the resources section?

I just want to thank everyone who volunteered to hide caches and work the information table. A very BIG thank you to Cheefy, Martin of Franklin & his wife Kay, thecheyniacs, Widgeon1178, Cibachrome, Erik & his wife Carol, Rebeljedi, Joebids, Dragonfly Dreams, Trez, and AtlantaGal. Thank you all for helping make this event a success! A special thank you to the GGA for working with us and helping us establish this relationship with Callaway. We all make a great team!
yeah that

The turn out was a little less then what I was hoping for but given the time of the year very understandable. The cachers who where there represented our sport very well. I was also surprised at all the new cachers that came by the table to see what they could learn. We met cachers from Alabama, Florida, and New York.

Katie and Luann were very please to see so many cachers and potential cachers in the park.

Thanks again. I hope you make it to Callaway to find or place a cache. Enjoy and be safe!

Teresa, thanks for your work in planning such a great event. The weather was perfect and I had a great time at Callaway.

Only thing is that I wished I had made it an overnight trip. One day simply isn't enough time to see everything the place has to offer or find all the caches there. So it looks like I'll be going back sometime in the near future. Hmmm, maybe for the Fantasy in Lights? Smile
