Im looking into buying two Rino's for my Dad and I. I'll probably get the new 520HCX but my dad doesn't need something so advance. Maybe the higher radio range older 130 or 520 model Rino.

Does anyone have any experience with both models?

How is GMRS range with the 130? My Dad and I are hardly ever over 2miles apart, in the woods mind you. Would the 130 work good?

I bought 2 130's and a 520 for myself a year or so ago. The biggest problem was good reception in the woods. I could talk to the kids, but I couldn't count on their position showing up. The 520HCX should not have this problem since it has the same receiver as the 60CSx which can pull in the satelites on the lower level of my house! Since it was my kids, I wasn't ever more than FRS distance from them, but I did try the GMRS with my wife one time and had at least 2 mile inside the city.

Do you no anyone who has the HCx?
