What's the topo map software/website of choice?
I've been playing with topofusion, but it seems just a tad squirrelly. |

I use Topo USA v3.0. The current version is V6.0. I like what it shows, and how I can dump tracks to it and get profiles, I can exchange waypoints and routes with it. But its user interface is squirrelly. I don't know if later versions clean that up or not. But when I go somewhere with a decent hike. I tend to have a printed copy of topo map that I print from it and have loaded high and low spots of the trail into the GPS. Johnnie and I used the printed copy a lot when we went to Montgomery's Corner.

I use National Geographic Topo!. Quite happy with it and very solid software, but expensive ($99 per state).

I ended up going with TopoUSA 6.0. I like the map quality and the 3D stuff is cool. Haven't had time to play with it enough to master it though. It has a user interface that was apparently designed by a drunken chimpanzee...
