I know people are busy, I was just wondering if and about the next newsletter.

I remember hearing about an etiquette article that was going to be in a future edition of the newsletter...Is that coming out anytime soon???

Just curious. I think if it doesn't come out soon we should start a topic about it. I have seen some bad etiquette as of late and I have used a bad method of addressing it...Sarcasm. I think there are more positive ways, like discussion, good example and education (like the article and meetings). No, I don't believe we'll touch everyone, but I think we could change a few.

Just an Idea...(inspired by guilt)

Thorny had to give up the newsletter since they have a baby due and he took an additional job.

Personally, I agree with you that an article about etiquette would be beneficial. I'd be happy to collaberate with you and a couple of other members and assist in putting an article together on that topic. I don't feel qualified to write this alone as I'm sure I'll miss some issues that I'll just overlook. So, if you want to collaberate on this just let me know.

As for the newsletter, the editor has resigned as he doesn't have the time to do it. So far no one has chosen to volunteer to handle it. That is my assumption because no one has requested anything from me after I submitted the stuff for March. Thus, I assume the NL is now effectively kaput.

I consider this situation unfortunate and perhaps you agree. The GGA SC may need to clarify the organization's mission in regard to what membership in the GGA does for the members in a social group. Until an editor volunteers or the SC determines that the GGA as a social group needs a newsletter for members this situation isn't apt to change. That is not criticism of anyone nor the SC. I believe the SC is doing their best. This is a reality unfortunately.

This is the first thing I've heard about Thorny's resignation, I'm sure I'm not the only one. (thanks for the info AG) Maybe that's why no-one has stepped up.

I was not aware the editor had resigned until just now. Perhaps it was only mentioned in the "Newsletter" forum?

I would be willing to help with a newsletter. Who should I ask?

The editor made a statement May 5th in the NL forum. Before that I was unaware for sure there was a problem. The NL needs an editor who can get writers to write stuff, who can edit the stuff written and can get stuff done on a reasonably reliable schedule. AG handles events, I write stuff, ~Erik~ writes stuff, as do a few others. The editor passes the finished NL to Trez who acts as paperboy and delivers the NL to members. Thorny1 was our previous editor, he did a great job and I'm sure he will be glad to help the new editor get started. Now, are you volunteering?

I did not even know there was a newsletter until recently and have never seen one. Let me email Thorny1 and get the full scoop on this job, to see if I am volunteering or not.

Be sure to inquire as to pay, vacation time, and other fringe benefits. Wink I'm afraid it's a thankless job, but it should not be too tough if you have some time available. I've already written an article, I'm sure Atlanta Gal can do her great job of summarizing upcoming events, and Marietta Moose probably has a geocaching joke or two to contribute to the issue.

Well, it seems we have TWO volunteers. This could not be better. Now we have backup in case someone gets sick or gets too busy one month.

Now the access to the newsletter forum is the responsibility of the SC so once both of you can get on there we can make progress on a July issue. June might need to go out too quickly.

I'll email some folks directly and we can see what happens.

Emailed. and now that you've attended a meeting, you should automatically be added to the distribution list for the next one.

Thanks AG for letting me know. I will be on the lookout for it!

Publishing a monthly newsletter is one of the duties I have at work so I completely understand how "difficult" it can be to get writers, articles, pictures, etc.!

I'm sure it will take a few days to get us "newbies" all the permissions to the Member Forums so I will check back!
