get taking those pictures folks. we want to do the calendar earlier this year, so everyone can give them as gifts for Christmas.
I'm not sure what
"earlier" means, but the online GGA Events calendar indicates "Calendar Entrys Start" on next Friday October 15th lasting only 7 days.
This doesn't give GGA MEMBERS much time to search and compile their pictures to submit.
Is this still on or has this been eliminated as well?
Check that calendar again, it runs two weeks as usual. I will be posting the submissions topic shortly. It has always been two weeks, so this is no different than the many years we have been doing this. biker64 bumped this topic so people would get the calendar in mind again (thanks biker!).
Something we are looking at is other options for production and whether we can get the cost down. Here is a
test calendar I printed that is hanging up in my office right now. It looks as good as the CafePress calendar, but costs more if you buy it individually. Buying in bulk saves money though. No bulk purchases are allowed via CafePress.
One big change is that we are considering printing 25 of the "In State" calendars and bringing them to meetings to sell, which is different than we have done in the past. We typically sell about 40 - 50 calendars a year, which seems like a lot to me at least, but in the last couple of years the sales have dropped to 31 and then only 23 last year. My guess is because of the stinky economy last year for one (I didn't buy any for myself for the first time). We hope that having some at a meeting for people to see will get them to buy since they can put their hands on it rather than buying on faith.
For grins, here is an accounting of the past calendar sales and the money generated for the GGA each year that I compiled for the SC as we were discussing this. Many thanks to all of you that have contributed to and/or have bought the calendars. It is a special treat for me to put this together each year. Even though it takes a lot of time to resize, add correct text and check all of the images, the results are oh so worth it.
Year -- Checks -- Calendars sold
2004 -- $71.91 -- 21 calendars, only one version made
2005 -- $130.08 -- 32 inside, 13 outside

2007 -- $138.15 -- 27 inside, 14 outside
2008 -- $69.71 -- 20 inside, 11 outside
2009 -- $103.83 -- 19 inside, 4 outside
