Geo - Goals

I think we've talked about these before, but I think we've all had a little bit more time to think about them -

Geocaching Flexibility has afforded us the opportunity to Achieve any goals We would like to set. It is very much like golf where it's more of a competition with yourself than with others.

So Pick the type of goal and Lets hear what you want to Geo - achieve this year!

Question:
What kind of Personal Geo-Goals have you set???

Choices:
First to Finds
Number Milestone
A Certain List of Caches
Complete a Challenge Cache
Difficulty / Terrain
Consecutive Days
Just to get out and Cache!!!!
Nope I didn't set any...

Now most anyone who knows me knows I set some huge honking goals. Sometimes I reach them and sometimes I don't. But what usually happens is I end up doing more than I would have if I hadn't set them.

My overall goal is to get out a little more this year than I have in the last few years. But a goal I have had for a few years is to finish all of the caches From the year 2001. I completed year 2000 a few years back and I was close to completing 2001. I have 16 left
  • Newton Factory Shoals
  • Lake Burton
  • Blood Mountain
  • Heritage Park
  • Ellicott Rock Cache
  • Tallulah Gorge Cache
  • Rocky Mountain
  • 200 Easy Steps
  • Tumbling Water
  • Raven Cliffs
  • Hero's Guild
  • Toccoa Suspension Bridge
  • Larce Indian Town
  • Fort Mountain Progressive
  • Kings Bridge
  • Fort Early

I actually think this year might be the year for marking this goal done!

Well, being a new cacher and all still, I haven't really thought too much about specific targets or goals beyond "get out there and cache!" As I typically cache with my two youngest GeoKids (on top of being a newbie), my finds thus far have all been simple, 1/1 or 1.5/1.5 caches. Would like to find some more challenging ones as I gain experience, and am looking forward to going to more unique/interesting places. Smile Being one who is NOT very athletic (aside from the random 5k race here and there, jogged slowly and nearly last each time, LOL), I will almost certainly never do a 5/5 cache, though some of them sound so AWESOME! My "Inner Adventurer" does not match up to "Outter Reality," LOL!

One tangible goal I do have is to complete the Historical Georgia series by "rustyg" - the GeoKids and I did 4 of them last weekend and had a ton of fun. Smile I like the idea of following a series...kinda neat. Smile

I'd love to be a FTF one of these days. I narrowly missed one last week that was less than three miles from me! Ack! LOL

==================
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen (St. Francis of Assisi)

I finished my first goal of filling in the d/t chart, now I just enjoy getting out and hunting caches. Sometimes, I even find them! Smile

I haven't really set any goals for the year. I just like to get out and find some caches that look interesting or challenging. I do try to fill in some blank D/T slots on my grid, but haven't really made it a goal. Finding all the caches placed in 2000 and 2001 does sound interesting. Might have to give that a look.

It's about the journey

Phat & Trez said it. The only challenge I completed was the Well Rounded Cacher which some of my favorite caches was then discovered.

Now that I've made a New Year's resolution of finding a cache on all the day's that I haven't found a cache on, sometimes caching doesn't have the same enjoyment. I find myself going out at unpleasant times finding a 1/1 micro.

Maybe it's the time restraints, I really like the Georgia State Parks Challenge and hope to find them all one day.

So I guess your goal... Is to have no goal.

That's why this game is so much fun... we get out of it whatever we want. Even if it's nothing.

Well. That just didn't come out right. Confused

I actually loved doing the well rounded cacher challenge. And I did it on a lark. I had nearly all of the grid filled when it popped up. I didn't know I would enjoy it so much. Teaming up with The BoxerLady Team and picking and choosing caches that fit the grid AND really interesting Made my 2008 summer one I will never forget. Making that journey and sharing it with people who are in it for the same thing I was...helped renew my joy for caching.

So - For me - this year, since I'm relatively healthy, I wanted to complete something. So I chose the caches from 2001. It was the last year before all micro heck broke loose.

I happen to function best with goals... Whatever they might be. I was genuinely curious. So sorry that my question struck a nerve. It was intended to trade ideas and see where people's geo-focus was. Maybe I should have put a choice on there that said something like...

Collecting all the Lacy Nickels to keep the collection complete.

Nah, no nerve has been struck.
... and I forgot about the Lacy nickels. That is a goal of mine - to a degree. Seems like they take great delight in making me actually work (or beg) for them.

We do not have a goal but should make one. Well the goal is a better GPS, the one we have now is terrible.

We need to just get out and cache more, so that is the goal for 2011.

We enjoyed when we had the goal of finishing the DeLorme challenge with all new cache finds and we did that goal. It was fun.

There are so many out there to do right now, not sure which one to tackle next.... County, State Park, Well Rounded, Back to School, ???? I am sure more that I am not even aware of.

My goal is to be breathing come daylight, not be a burden on anyone and to treat others as I wish to be treated. If I can hit a few caches on the way that is just gravy on life's biscuit.
