Hi everybody, I"m relatively new to geocaching, so I have what only can be termed as neophyte questions on some terms I've read in some georgia caches. I'm not sure where best to ask my question so if this forum isn't appropriate I don't mind being redirected elsewhere. Nor am I sure of protocol.

The terms that has me stymied most of all is: "Hidden georgia style" as I've seen on more than a few. I would simply ask the cache owner, but I've seen it on more than one cache, by many different owners so it seems like it is something I should know and dont. I'm not singling the cache owner by listing GCVAQE, it was the first one I found today, after encountering it several times over the weekend.

There are some other temrs I'm unfamiliar with, wondered if there was a directory of Geocaching terms someone could point me to?

Hey, that's my cache! Why're you picking on me? Crying Wink

Generally means "under pine straw", but I've seen that label applied to a pile of sticks, in a hole, or up in the tree.

Welcome to the forums, and never be afraid to ask.

I've wondered the same thing! I've also read "Florida Style". That's about like using "log" for a clue. Most of the time the "LOG" isn't much more than a stick at best. If you can pick it up it isn't a log, unless it is a "Log Book"! LOGS are usually found on large trucks and at sawmills! Cool 3
I'm guessing that georgia style is and ammo box under a campfire. Very obvious!

I've found that "Georgia Style" generally refers to a cache hidden under a lot of pine straw - not just a few scattered on top. Google is your friend and if you Google "geocaching terms" you'll find both humor and real world. The page by Prime Suspect is pretty good: Geoterms

Phillips4 is correct on the term, but I have found that the folks that use it the most are Florida cachers hiding in Georgia. Roll Eyes

Also thanks for the definition of "georgia style" when I read the reply, I might as well have said "du'h" Makes perfect sense...now.

Florida Style is typically hidden under palm fronds or within palmetto (?not sure what those plants are called) bushes/trees.

Georgia style has always meant under pine straw to me.
