So I was digging around on the site and I saw this wonderful poll feature. And I wondered - yes aloud - why we didn't use it more often. Even if it was just for fun. So I thought we could have a poll every once in a while. Nothing controversial... And no I won't build a database out of the responses. I just thought "Let's get our money's worth out of the bells and whistles" this site has to offer. Since the great question came up this week about GPS's, I thought it would be good place to start. I put the most popular brands out there and put them alphabetical. But if I've missed a big play-ah please comment and I'll figure out how to do make it work. Hey if you want to ... Leave a comment with your model #. Might make for a nice discussion... Ok y'all... Have some fun... ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

Little trivia... maybe just my imagination... But I believe the First place winner of the Accuracy challenge in Savannah used a Lowrance. I could be mistaken, But I thought I heard him say it. ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

My primary GPS is a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx. But I've always got my iPhone 3GS for paperless support, camera, etc. And occasionally I'll snag one with just the iPhone. 'Course there's also the Nuvi 750 to tell me how to drive there. WakeboardLanier

During my 1st year of caching I used a Blackberry Curve 8310 with Geocache Navigator. However, after getting into the North GA mountains and driving all over the state working on the DeLorme Challenge and often finding myself in locations where cell coverage wasn't readily available, I quickly decided to purchase a dedicated GPSr. So during Q3-2009, I purchased a brand new Garmin Colorado 400t from REI for $225 since they were making room for the Oregon devices. Soon thereafter, I purchased Garmin's North America City Navigator maps and a RAM mount for my car and now I'm cooking with gas and use this setup as my primary GC tools. I still occassionly use my Blackberry (now a Bold 9700) with Geocache Navigator, but I've found that my Garmin has much better accuracy. Fun poll.

For the early years I used a Garmin Legend. For the last 2 years I've been using a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. I just bought a Nuvi 1300 to use in the car to get me to the area to give the 76CSx a break(before I break it moving it around so much). Found out how to load cache info into it so I can use that as a back-up to the PDA.

Huh? You still use electronics? I figured your internal GPS had evolved enough to leave the gadgets at home. You know, kinda like Kevin Costner's gills in Waterworld. WakeboardLanier

Being baby cachers--just under 30 finds, lol, we started with our car Garmin Nuvi 755t and from there we bought a Geomate jr. Since I am the primary addict, my husband finally caved and got me a dedicated GPSr with more features--the Magellen Paisley Cat~ Shifter Clan of Georgia

I found one this week, (that is a good week for me)and I didn't carry paper work or anything, found it in less than 5 minutes of getting out of the car. It was fun to be out. I still carry my 76 CSx on long hikes in the hills just in case. ------------------------------------------- Adventure Before Dementia. ..

I use a Garmin GPSmap 60csx to find the cache, a Nuvi 760 to get me to the cache, also for paperless features, and my HTC Droid Eris phone with a Cachemate app also for paperless caching. Everything is loaded via GSAK. Thanks for the fun

I actually have had several gpsr's. Started with the Handspring PDA with a GPS Cartridge. Got rid of that in a hurry. Didn't like it too much Traded it in for an Etrex Legend which I still have. After a couple of years I bought the Garmin V. Never liked it much. Sold it and bought a 60csx. Put a 2gig card in it and it has all the maps loaded. I've been pretty happy with that one. It's my main one. I'm thinking of getting a system for the car, But I've put that on hold for a while. ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

I also have had/have several units - ALL Garmins. Started with an old Yeller eTrex. Found my first 500+ with it and still have it as a backup. Upgraded to a Vista, which I loved! Lost it on T3's hood as we drove off - never to be seen again. Had a GPSmap 76s which I HATE. I have been in a boat in the middle of Lake Pontchartrain (12 miles from land) and it wouldn't get satellite reception. I still have it - somewhere. I now have a 60CSx, which is the best I have had. I love it. I also use it in the truck for navigation.

5 garmins in the house!! first one was a streetpilot 2610 for my motorcycle, then a blue legend, mailed that here to GA while I still lived in MI and bought a vista to cache with. didn't like it but that was not the reason that I dropped it and smashed it beyond recognition. Bought my future wife a colorado 300 with streets and trips so she only needed 1 unit. at some point I bought a second streetpilot 2610 (love em!) and a map60csx. End result is I have a blue legend that is constantly being loaned out to friends who want to try out caching or are going hiking. 2 handhelds we use and 2 auto units (1 of which has been on loan for about 6 months now) I use a old palm pilot for paperless, and I have to sync it with a infrared dongle because palm doesn't make a driver for windows 7
