I love the caches and the TB/coins being in seperate tabs. It is nice and organized.

I too love the mouseover picture feature.

I like the little geocoin icons on the cache page when they are loaded into a cache (like an event cache). Pretty nice looking update. My old Firefox 1.0.7 did not see the tabs, but an update to it fixed all of that.

Hmmm... that could be why I am having problems seeing the tabs then as well. However, I have a work app that has known issues with the latest Firefox update... So do I update to get the new features at GC.com working or keep the old version so I can access this jop application... Work or Play. Roll Eyes Hmmm...

Try Portable Firefox.

You can run it right off a USB drive as 1.5 and keep the earlier version installed on the PC.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. I did like you did, Allen, and added parking coords to a couple of my caches. I should probably go back and put in the intermediate and final stages to my multi and mystery caches. I'm all the time having to look through my notes for those when someone e-mails me for a hint.

The cache reviewers are hoping that eventually having the intermediate and final stages of caches in this field will make it possible for us to view their proximity to other caches and to map features like RR tracks and other places prohibiting caches. Right now it's awkward to check for this when a cache is reviewed, and even more awkward when a second multi is submitted near an existing multi.

I'm the guy who volunteered to approve caches in Austria, and in the city of Vienna there's often another multi with starting coords every .1 mile. Those multis have stages that overlap like strands of a spiders web. Frown
Here's one random example

I didn't add parking coords, I added trailhead coords. In fact I am the one that caused Jeremy to add the classification Trailhead to the addition waypoint types. Notice the announcement only list 4 types and Trailhead isn't one of them. Big Grin

The new centering of the information on the cache page is probably the poorest formating that they could have picked unless they wanted to write the cache pages backward. Difficult to read. Looks like change solely for the purpose of change.

Things are sorta in a state of flux. I believe that's already been corrected, fonts are being resized right now....

Too bad most geocaching software, GPSBabel, GSAK, and so on don't know what to do with the extra waypoints. Of course I think most of the programers are hard at work a) figuring out what to do with them, b) changing the programs to do that.

Are they going to leave them the small size that has recently appeared or are they going to increase them back to a readable size?

This is a link to an image of a cache page taken using Firefox 1.5. The fonts look readable to me.

Since I just became aware of the new cache placement distance rule. Can we place caches over active virtuals now? All areas with a Vitual free game? I wish I knew that earlier. There is so many virtuals that need to go.

Now that's not very nice. Wink

Actually the rules say that virts have to be maintained too, and that logging on at least monthly is seen as an indication that they cache owner is still active.

If you see one who's owner has not logged on in the last month it's fair game to post a SBA note on, but the cache reviewers will give the owner time to respond. Some virtual cache owners still get the log e-mails, even though they don't log on, so we don't want to archive a virt prematurely.

Since new virts have been redirected to www.waymarking.com the cache reviewers have stopped restricting the placement of new caches based on the .1 mile distance from a virt. I know the geocaching guidelines have been updated since that happened, but am not sure if it's clearly spelled out.

When I did a pocket query today, I unzipped the file and had two GSAK files looking at me with the same number...one the gpx.gsak file that I used to seeing... the other a wpts.gpx file that was much smaller. Is this the GSAK adjustment to the new waypoint feature? If so, do I just load it into my database also?

Since the fonts now appear larger than what they have been the last couple of days, I assumed they are going to stay at the size they now are? I hope.
