Layinl0w and I would like to do some hiking caches this weekend to celebrate our 16th anniversary. Can anyone recommend some caches with great views, preferably within 100 miles of Woodstock with a hike of no more than 15 miles roundtrip?

Thanks

I don't know of any geocaches that require a 15 mile round trip.

But here are some geocaches which require a hike of at least 4 miles.

Yonah Mountain has several geocaches on it. It is a about 2 1/2 miles one way and it is pretty much up hill one way, and down hill on the return
GC4156 Nacoochee's Revenge (Yonah Mountain)
GCH8P0 2 On The Mountain.
GC10FHF 3 Up Top

Panther Creek trail has three
GCFFDA We Don't Need No Stinkin Blue Blazes
GCG0R9 Da box
GCE689 What Blue Blazes?
If you start at 441 then if I remember right it is about 5 miles to the last one. If you make it a through hike by getting some one to pick you up at the other end it is 7 miles.

If you are willing to drive a little more than 100 miles I like GCFE3 Ellicott Rock Cache. It is my geocache, but I have been there 5 times now. It is a nice hike (3 1/2 miles one way).

I really like the area of the Chattahoochee National Forest up near Calhoun / Dalton. The Pinhoti trail runs through there. There are also a lot of caches on the Pinhoti.

Here’s a great collection of Pinhoti trail maps in Georgia.

And here’s my bookmark of Pinhoti caches.

One hike that I considered doing, except that it would take two cars, was from the parking lot on Hwy 134 up to the parking lot on Dug Gap Battle Road. According to the maps, this is just over 15 miles. Check out Map 13 (from the above collection) at mile 76.54 to Map 15 at mile 91.62.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I'll definitely put them on my to do list. Considering that it's supposed to be 94 degrees on Saturday, we might do some boat caching on Allatoona and save the big hikes for cooler weather. hugs
