Hey Kids! Guess what!
Due to my extraordinary lack of diligence in arranging the 2005 Outstanding Geocaches in Georgia, we get to vote again in SIX of the categories this year!
HoooRAH!
After the initial voting there were ties in at least two of the categories and then it was brought to my attention that mistakenly ommited were several of the nominees in others, so we're going to have to take a mulligan, or six here.
There's a new voting page posted, the categories will be P-U this time around, but the rest of the process will be the same.

Choose only one geocache number per category letter.

Format your ballot as follows; your geonickname, category=geocache, for example, gpsfun, P=3, Q=8, R=18, etc.

Email your ballot to ggaelection@gmail.com

Once you've voted and emailed your ballot, it's final. No changing your votes once they're cast.

The new voting period will begin now and run until midnight Saturday Jan 28.

Sorry for the SNAFU. cursing You can kill me later Flaming Mad, for now let's VOTE! Thumbs Up

I voted too. Don't usually get to vote twice, so it was nice to mentally relive those memorable cache hunts again.

Thanks for making up the very nice list. I am not qualified to vote on a single one of these caches....because I haven't been to ONE! I can't believe with a list that long, I haven't been to even ONE.....geeeez, I gotta get out more.

Is there an award for "Most police Officers to respond to your suspicious person call while caching"?

No run-off, I have seen this kind of thing before. First the geocachers in south GA will demand a recount of the votes in Albany. A GGA official will order the recount, but that decision is overturned in the state supreme court, and then that decision is appealed to the the US Supreme Court.

I think I'd rather see two caches be co-winners in a category in the event of another tie, then to hold up announcing all the winners by having another round of voting. Wink

What is the big deal with south Ga. and Albany? We do not have a problem with the votes or the process of how it is done. We just submit our votes and if it wins it wins if not, no big deal. I think the northern air is affecting certain people. This is just a game to go out and have fun and be with the family no matter where you are. Some people just try to be so anal about the people in south Ga. Top Hat. Negative comments about south Ga. or anywhere else should stay to ones self and not posted because it is a waste of time.

Ease up a bit ... it was a joke. Albany is in the southern part of Georgia, like Palm Beach is in the southern part of Florida. If the 2000 presidential election Florida recount had been in Tallahassee, I would have used Dalton or Cartersville.

As for being anal about people in South Georgia ... my mother's family from Scotland settled near Douglas in the early 1800's, and I am ...

Ok Charlie P you are forgiven. Are the winners posted anywhere yet? It is hard to vote for some caches if you haven't been to them. I would like to be fair and try to hit all the caches that were submitted, but work schedule prohibits that. We are trying to get some caches put out around the secluded areas. I know there are tons of great caches out there and to narrow it down to 6 can be really hard to do. I know some of the caches put out around here can be a challenge. When I ever make it up around Atlanta I would love to spend a day or two hunting caches.

The votes have been tallied and the winners will be posted...soon.

Life has been crazy lately, but as soon as I get a moment I'll take a breath and post the winners.

Meanwhile, congrats to all the worthy nominees from 2005!
