There are many hotels in the Rockhill area so I'm sure you can find a room nearby quite easily.

This is the marketing video that the Rockhill contingent put together to get this years Geocoinfest. I thought it was a very well planned and organized bid. http://youtu.be/AxfUZ75OE5o

The GCF website has a note indicating another block of rooms have opened up until Sep 23 for geocachers.

I wish folk had approached the committee about purchasing a table together when we still had room and time to add others. I also hope to see many of you there.

Okay it's less than a week away now so who is going?? It's looking more likely that I will be there after all. Janet Team Underachievers - we log a lot of miles for a few smiles

When the website is very adamant about coin sales Why would I? There weren't any other options posted there. And pooling up with others to buy a table seemed a little hinky to me. Just because it's been done doesn't mean it should be. It felt like a flagrant nose snub to the Rules. And frankly Where I used to not mind bending a rule or 2... These days, I try not to upset the apple cart. ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

So are you definitely coming? What day are you arriving?

No one approached us that has a problem with the prices that we set, that's my point. Communication may have changed that. We made deals for in kind sponsorship with several folks. We had no problem with folks sharing a table. Nothing hinky about that. We just would let two or three share a table. The whole money thing was actually about helping to pay for this event. A LOT of money had to be put down. We broke even. We never intended to make a profit. Just wanted to have a good event that everyone could have fun at. We accomplished what we set out to do. And the cost for a table was never $200. It started at $125 and went to $175. Honestly, all our vendors had great sales days. We've gotten nothing but good responses from them on this. Even the ones who balked at the increased hours. Sorry you didn't feel this was fair and I am not knocking your view, but had we heard problems with this we most likely would have worked with you. We even had a couple come in middle of the day that wanted a table and we accommodated them. We would have worked with anybody and scraped for vendors other than the usual suspects.

It may not be hinky to you... but it felt hinky to me. My choice. Not being a Coin Junky it wasn't overly important to go against my own principles. I am of the mind if you make a Statement in BOLD RED LETTERS that say No individual coin sales... well I respect it and move on. Your house your rules. It's when conversations come up on how to deviate from the rules you set from people other then the organizers... my spidey sense tingles and I move on. I know a lot is put into events. And frankly I always assume a profit is not intended. Never accused of such. We can monday morning quarterback this to till the cows come home... But I chose not to come because it really didn't mean that much to me to do something iffy. I'm glad you accommodated people who wanted to share tables - and I'm glad you broke even. I never said it wasn't fair... I read the rules and moved on. That's life. I really didn't lose any sleep over it. Hopefully, what you can take away from this conversation is that maybe that information you passed along after this years event should go on your FAQ's for next year's event. ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

So if I read this right ... You CAN sell coins IF you buy a table. If you don't buy a table and try to sell coins, you will be asked to leave? (unless you sell on the sly outside the 'official' grounds) Correct me if I misread it.

There is no next years event for this years committee. That's the next groups concern. Yes, phat.bak, you read that right. If you did not buy a table and sold in the venue that was paid for by the organizers you would be asked to leave. Slayerette I was just trying to be clear about what went on. I was not trying to bash anyone. We all cache to close together to have problems between states. I thought that you folk were a little PO'd that's all and was trying to make it more clear as to what was going on. Still wish we'd been approached. There were several large vendors who didn't come for one reason or another. We tried to contact and spread the word to everyone.
