I was playing around with GSAK today and was looking at elevation. I discovered I have found four geocaches at sea level and that got me thinking about the highest elevation cache I have found. My highest elevation cache I found is Nice Hearth, Nobody Home at 3940 ft above sea level. This was really just a P&G so it wasn't that difficult. In fact five of my top seven are just P&G. My toughest elevation cache is actually eighth on the elevation list. It was a nice 2.5 mile walk with an elevation gain of 1311 ft from parking lot to the cache. This is The Wizard of WAAS: The CORS of a Different Color. What is your highest elevation cache or toughest elevation cache? Close only counts in Horseshoes, hand-grenades and geocaching. ~ltblarg

The toughest climb we've ever faced in Georgia was Beasley Knob GC14KHW. Although the elevation was only 3,270', we could tie our shoe laces as we walked. We took no pictures and have few fond memories of the ordeal. We're just glad to be able to say we made it up and down. The highest physical cache in Georgia is Rabun Bald GC92D5, elevation 4614'. We parked at Beegum Gap (elevation 3,660'). Once we found the cache, we proceeded to the top of the mountain and saw this: ____________________ We make difficult caches even more so.

I figured a "Mary Jane" cache would have been in California. Mary Jane Cache Close only counts in Horseshoes, hand-grenades and geocaching. ~ltblarg

Our highest cache was probably "History at 9000 Feet" (GC9AD3) in Montana in June, 2007. The road topped out at about 13k but that was the highest cache along the route. Lots of fun driving our little Mazdaspeed Turbo at those elevations with the top down and snow all around.

Funny you posted this, I was just looking at a tweet from Jeremy at groundspeak about a new cache put out and it led me to Richard Garriott's profile, who currently has the highest and lowest caches published. Of course neither has been found considering they are on the sea floor and the International Space station. GC1BE91 is highest, GCG822 is lowest. Wouldnt it be cool to add one of those to your list one day?

My highest cache found was at 14109 ft. It is the Pikes Peak Summit International cache. GC16QMT It was found in June on the way to Philmont. We rode the Cog Railway to the top of the mountain and looked for the 30 minutes that we had in the snow. Go Jackets!
