It looks like an Alabamian will get FTF, however, an out-of-stater (DavidMac) is closing in fast on the STF. SoundmanRB is the only Georgian who has thrown his hat in the ring.

Heck that isn't much of a challenge. Here is Georgia we have about 10 cachers, and a couple team cachers, who are trying to find EVERY cache in Georgia. I for one am not in that running. My little ole 600 finds doesn't even rate raising an eyebrow anymore. Some new cachers can find 600 in a single year.

I guess I'll have to participate in this one too. I have plans to complete the Alabama Delorme challenge within a couple of months, so that should get me a good percentage of the county challenge too. DIB, send me your email and I'll send you my MY FINDS PQ and see where I stand.

My e-mail address is wheresdib at gmail dot com.
The easiest way for you (and for me!) to verify your finds is for you to upload your My Finds PQ to www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com because it generates a cool map showing you which counties have finds etc. And if you leave it public, I can pull it up and verify without you having to send me anything. I trust that website, as I have verified a select number of caches and they are in the correct counties. |

If you're lazy then making it on post-publish-date finds is way too hard. I am lazy so I don't care when your finds were. And to update you on the progress in AL, 3 finders so far, 1 from AL, 2 from MS, and the next to qualify will probably be from GA. |

Easier said than done. When Hannah and I did the DeLorme Challenge, there were four map sections that didn't have an active cache. So, we took the direct approach and placed caches there. So far as I know, there are still no other caches in those map sections. That means that no one that finished the DeLorme Challenge can do a Georgia County challenge unless they can count those four caches or somebody else places new ones. And then there is the matter of all those Georgia counties that still don't have a cache... |

I was thinking the same thing as Owl...
Not all the counties have caches. I think Thorny posted the number once and it is quite a few that have no caches. But hey if some got up a Georgia County Challenge I am sure we would tackle it but please do it with the previous finds counting, not sure we would do it if we had to travel to get all new finds. So do all counties in Alabama have a cache? |

I didn't back-date any of my finds for the GA DeLorme challenge. There are THOUSANDS of caches still in GA I haven't found, and I'm not in any hurry. But if I were desperate, I don't think it would be a problem. I have a BUNCH of micro containers with logs ready to go and a Crackberry. I'd just have to wait on Erik to enable them. |

Luckily, Alabama only had one county that didn't have a cache. I did allow the first cacher to get one listed there to count it towards his challenge (he hid 3!). Of course we only have 67, compared to the 300 or so counties there are in Georgia... And by the way, SoundmanRB finished the AL DeLorme with finding caches in only 40 counties! And since the cache was published he is up to 65, and will complete the other 2 and the final probably this weekend. |
