The February event cache page will be going up soon so stay tuned for details. (psst - it'll be in McDonough)
The meeting will include a chili cook off so we're in need of some hardy and/or foolish souls to taste the variety and do what judges do. In this case we're hopeful that fire extinguishers and sand won't be required accourterments.
Post here if you want to be a judge. For more information about the contest, please see the event cache page once it's up and running.
Alka Seltzer and Pepto Bismol provided, for a fee.
Why not just have the people\ attendees sample each dish and cast their vote for the best. Each dish would have a number(no names) and the folks that attended pick the winner vs. a judge
It's a matter of degrees

Give every cook an individual number, ie. 1,2,3, etc.
Give everyone in attendance a numbered ticket when they walk in the door. You're probably already doing this anyway.
Behind a privacy screen set up a bunch of small containers, one for each cook. Shoe boxes, coffee cans, anything you can cut a slot in will work. The top of each container bears the number of a cook.
Each attendee places his ticket in the box corresponding to the number of the cook whose chili he likes the best.
If door prizes will also be awarded to ticket holders then have them put only half their ticket in the box.

Gotcha. Only problem I can see is that that will require that everyone taste every chili for it to be fair. As I have no idea of how many folks will be bringing chili, I'm going to go for three judges tasting all the chili, one pot or 20.
If folks like the idea we might make it an annual GGA thing, who knows? Then we can complicate the stuffing out of it.

Now, Rebel, if you have only one pot of chili, no judges are required by my rekoning. This is only based on Moose logic, so it may be possible to have judges vote for no winner too I suppose. Are you planning on making a catagory for chili and one for chili with beans? Based on living in Texas for a while, real Texas chili doesn't have beans in it. Just wondering.

Make sure you tell the people to bring the chili already cooked.
My kids' school has a chili cook off every year to benefit the Diabetes Society. (I've , ahem, managed to win it the last two years straight. <pats self on back, straining shoulder>
Last year one of the parents showed up at the right time and right place, but all he had was the fixins for chili. Beef, onions, tomato sauce, beans, everything. He thought we were supposed to cook it on the spot.
He's been catching hell for that boner since April and is really looking forward to next year's cook off so he can redeem himself.

Do we all still get to sample even if not judging? At the Stone Mtn chilli cookoff they do the box vote thing with everyone having a ticket to stick in a box of there choice.

We've got our three judges. There will be a process where entrys will be assigned a number to allow for unbiased voting. That'll be added to the event page soon.
I want to keep this as fair as possible as I'll be bringing in my World Famous Rebel Chili! (OK, a friend in Germany asked for the recipe, made it with good results and so it is now World Famous. Hah!)
Uncle Jack was a character but had been lingering in a nursing home since age 55 due to a stroke. His passing is almost a blessing. I'm sure he would see the humor in my previous post.
The information about registering entries has been posted as has been a request for the listing of exotic ingredients to which people may have allergies. Stuff like shell fish, seafood, peanuts, honey, etc. We don't need to be calling 911 or renting a backhoe.
