Whether or not they make it by this weekend is yet to be seen, but you will very soon be able to purchase coins at www.geocoinstore.com for $9 per coin plus shipping. The photo currently shown in their coming soon area is just a placeholder** that will hopefully be replaced tomorrow with the final coin photo.

These only come in silver nickel and there are only 225 available for sale initially. The Steering Committee will have 75 additional coins available for in person purchase at $10 each, but those are geared towards people who only want 1 coin or new members who wouldn't have known about the coins any other way. So please plan to purchase your coins online if possible.

The sale will be password protected for 2 weeks so that members can order them. The password will be posted in a thread in the private members forum once the sale is live (possibly as soon as tomorrow morning if the order leaves China this evening as scheduled) and also sent out to the newsletter email list along with a brief coin write up. Due to the smaller number of coins produced, I fully expect the coins to sell out to GGA members without making it to public sale. Please watch the members forum below for further details.

**The reason for the delay was that the mint screwed up their own dies from their own correct artwork. Don't ask me how the heck that happened, but it did. That's the reason the temporary photo is not the correct photo. The mint had to remake the dies and rush the order.

I must have had my head in the sand lately, but this is the first I've heard of our new coin. Is there a thread where it was discussed?
Inquiring minds .... signal lost

Nope. This is the first they've been mentioned outside of the steering commitee.

Talks of design submissions were brought up at the February meeting but no one acted on it or kept up with it. I was asked by Joebids to get the coin done based on artwork I had created and planned to submit as a potential choice.

Wow ... talk about dropping the ball! I know that the SC has a lot on their plate, but this is an annual BIGGIE. No excuse. I expect more from the SC.
.. but thanx AG, for creating a nice coin for us. I hope to get one, but I prefer not to register on the geocoin site. I'll hope to get one from a SC member .. if they'll talk to me now.

Well, it's just one of those things that happens. I wouldn't beat anyone up over it. It came to April and was either run with it and try to make the June meeting or wait until later in the summer to do the coin. They voted and here's the result.

If customs doesn't hold them, I should get the SC allotment by Saturday morning and will bring them to the meeting to hand off to the SC. Talk about cutting it close. The mints are still backlogged from all the Geowoodstock stuff. And I'm still pretty ticked off about their die/mold mistake Disgust

Information to purchase coins online is now posted in the members forum. You must be a GGA Member to access this link: http://ggaonline.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9076023341/m/8251033883

The GGA's allotment is in an Alaska Fedex facility currently and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow if customs doesn't hold them.

I hope some are left at the event when I get there tomorrow. I would much rather pick up in person.

I was over window shopping at the Geocoin Store and guess what I see.....

....another coin with a GGA tie in. I sure did have to buy a few coins of one of my favorite geocaching people.

It sure would be nice if mine would show up any day now.

Edit:
Never mind...They came today. Took a while for me to make it to the box...I should have checked it before typing. But they are here!!!!

Yeah the guy they have that usually does their shipping broke his wrist. It's bad enough that he can't use it. So Rusty is doing the shipping once a week. They had 10 new coins hit the same week and thus were a tad backed up. They took a week longer to arrive than I anticipated.
