"Needs Maintenance" doesn't necessarily mean the cache isn't there. It's dependent on what the log said. Example: a cracked container lid or cache taking on water, don't mean the cache is missing, but do mean that the CO needs to make some repairs in a reasonable amount of time.

Joe... Joe....Joe.... I never said ban the micros. I said move lame ones. And yes "Lame" is all subjective. But if it's placed under a lamp post skirt - it qualifies as unimaginative - uncreative - unredeeming - unchallenging... In a word... Lame. BTW... You are wrong. You can't filter out "lame" micros. It's kind of an all or nothing feature. Now show some creativity - make it challenging and/or educational - with some redeeming quality to bring me to that lamp post that isn't just a number booster disguised as film cannister/bison tube .... Well, then that's a micro worth doing. Maybe not by me, but by someone. BTW I do mean to get out and do your caches, but I haven't had the chance. I have been known to do a micro on occasion... But I will not waste my time any more on a cache I consider "Lame". And on those rare occasions that I do a micro - If it turns out to be lame, I will not take the find but write a note. And I will state my reason in my post. That is if I even bother to make a post. Actually, when it all comes down to it. I really don't care anymore one way or the other. Nowadays I am so picky about what caches I want to spend the little amount of spare time I have. If y'all get joy out of driving to the Walmart and molesting lamp posts.... Have at it. I'll walk through the woods to a waterfall and have a leisurely lunch with my dog and my best friend. Walmart Lampost vs Waterfall Best friends... Hmmm which one is lame? The 2 shouldn't even be in the same category... but they are. I think what is missing is a subcategory level of filtration that is locationally based for example: urban / mountain / rural / water etc.... It's just an idea. Like I said I really don't care... Cause I'm the Honey Badger. I just slap the #### out of it. ----------------------- Quality Over Quantity!!! -----------------------

AtlantaGal, You are right, I should have made that distinction. "Life is tough, but I am tougher."

I voted yes on this. Not sure what the magic number should be though. Probably somewhere between 50-100. Hopefully they'd be able to find enough lousy and high quality caches by then to know the difference and emulate the latter. Learn from what you found and hide what you liked finding.
No. If you can't maintain what you've put out so far then why are you trying to put out more?
No. See previous answer.
Silly question. I hate lame micros but I had to vote no. This can't be done since everyone's definition of lame is different. I've found and logged plenty of lame micros. And I've driven up to many only to shake my head in disappointment and drive away without even getting out of the car. But those same caches that irritated me continue to get nice 'found it' logs from other people. They appear to be genuinely thanking the hider. And of course smalls and regulars are often pretty lame too. I think the best we can do here is filter out what you don't like. Look at the satellite view, read comments, check favorite points, consider the hider, etc. And maybe provide some constructive criticism to the exceptionally crappy ones that slip through that net. I voted "Yes" on this one, but not sure what X should be. I agree 50-100. I know that my first 100 caches exposed me to a number of differant types and let me see what a good cache was like vs a "lame" one. I look at my very first cache (placed shortly after I started) and I'm somewhat embarrassed by it. I only keep it going from sentimentality. Mostly.
Voted "No" on this one - while I understand the "If you can't maintain your old caches why should you be placing new ones" I also can easily imagine having a cache needing maintenance that might take a little more work to get back up and running, and don't think it should prevent one from placing a new one.
No - same reasoning as above. One would hope that a CO would take care of their existing caches before dropping a bunch of new ones, I don't feel comfortable saying that they can't place new caches until they address the one (or more) that needs work.
I personally try not to hide any caches that I myself would not like to search for, so don't hide lamp-post skirt lifters, or film cannisters inside prickly bushes, or fake rocks hidden in a pile of real rocks. But even a lame micro is still a cache, which means that it is something for me to search for. Not that it's about the numbers or anything....

Wakeboardlanier, I understand your reasoning and agree. However, I had a novice (3 caches and found none since) that could not find one of my caches. Although it had been found within the week, he requested, Needs Archive. Surprisely, it was granted. This transpired in just a couple of hours.

That would really bug me! Seems to me that you were the victim of two flaws in the system. A newbie mashed the NA button on your cache without sufficient cause. And the reviewer granted his/her request without your involvement. Sorry about that! I hope you can get it unarchived (if that's what you want). As for my answer to the poll question:
I read the question to mean there really where issues (serious issues) that needed to be resolved. My answer to, "Should a reviewer honor the request of a newbie to archive a cache with no issues?" is a resounding NO!! WakeboardLanier
