Just a reminder that registration for climbimg Naomi Ruth at the August Meeting will be closing at midnight on July 31st. Registration is considered complete when you have made your payment through PayPal. This is necessary so the park will have the necessary resources available. This is a technical tree climb that is an interesting and fulfilling activity for all that will attempt the climb, as well as those choosing to be spectators. Please see the event page for details about the event and how to register and pay for the climg. You must be 8 years old or more to attempt this climb.

Hope to see you there!

Does GA State Parks realize that all of the climbers will want the rope that leads to the geocache? Sneaky

That is under consideration and Geomuse will soon give us the word on how that is going to work. The cache owner is the ranger that will be working with us!! how great is that? Smile

Why, yes, Jim. Glad you asked. Since the 'point' of the cache in the tree canopy is the climb, there will be several 'caches' placed especially for this climb, so that the ropes will be group around these several caches. Every cacher will be able to sign one of several logs, which will then be combined and placed back in the 'original' container at the end of the day.

We hope this solution suits everyone well.

Wow! That was some turn out for the Panola Mountain SP GGA event. The State Parks folks must certainly be happy. We were thrilled to see that room full of new cachers sitting in for FatKidsOTWUnite's class. Thanks to everyone who put this month's event together. Can't blame anyone for that lightning bolt that ended our love affair with Naomi Ruth. Laughing

Just wanted to drop a note and say the Pilgrims had a wonderful time at the event this weekend. Thanks so much to all who again made us feel so welcome! The climb was awesome (Mr. PP wants to come back and climb as well in the future). We enjoyed meeting so many that we had not met before and enjoyed seeing those we have come to love so in the past. Great times Robin -- sorry we didn't get to see some of the cachers we wanted but just couldn't pull ourselves away from that "tree".

Hey I just wanted to know the skinny on the shirts.

Did we Sell out?
If No how many are left over? Are they going to be available anyplace else? Like at the next meeting?

    I'm just asking because:
  • I'm nosey.
  • Those were some good looking shirts!
  • They seemed to be very popular!
  • Those who missed out are surely gonna want one too when they see them.

that was a great meeting with a bunch of activities that truly attracted a big crowd.

May I say that the overall attention to detail at this event was stellar! There was something for everyone: new caches placed, plenty of older caches in place, a State Park cache close, an opportunity to do an activity that most would normally not do, an educational program, a revenue stream (of something people really wanted - t-shirts), photographers everywhere... The page was put up a little over 5 weeks ahead of time... it was promoted in gc.com announcements, facebook, gga forums and god knows where else (that's just where I saw it). And I believe the payoff was a very successful meeting. I only saw 1 semi-unhappy person (climb postponed for them), but they still were smiling from ear to ear.

I think the true measure of a successful meeting is not the amount in the cache can or the amount of people who attend. It's the number of smiles it generates and ultimately how many people keep coming back.

But I don't think that we have to worry about that. They will be back. You all passed the first hurdle(smiles) and I'm sure you'll clear the second.

So....

How what's the word on the T-shirts?

this is what's left

13 Large
10 Medium

The t-shirts will be available through the forums very soon (this week). we will use the donation button on the webpage to collect.

They will be available as soon as I research shipping (versus guessing).

If there are any left, they will be taken to the sept meeting.

Peace out
