I received this message from Ranger Rudolph:

quote:
Ed,

You'll never guess.............................. the river is up and over it's banks again. let's wait and see if it goes down before the 24th. If not can I offer your group a walk around our main unit????

I told him that that would be acceptable. So, if the river is too high to visit the Lamar Mounds, we'll have a guided tour of the Ocmulgee. If we do have to defer the visit to the Lamar area, I'll set up another event in the Fall.

You're an under-achiever for not stopping the rain of Hurricane Dennis, Rebel!

Sounds good to me. I'd really like to see the spiral mound, but I wouldn't mind a tour of the main for driving down there. I plan on hitting the Friar Tuck cache again since I know now where the Apostle Peter statue is and I'm taking a camera this time.

Any news on what the area will be like tomorrow?

I went to REI and got stocked up on a bunch of stuff I needed. So I'm ready!

The river level is still high so most likely we'll get a guided tour of the Ocmulgee mounds. I'm not sure how much walking will be involved. As it's supposed to be one of the hottest days of the year and with the high humidity expected I'm kinda OK with not taking that 1.5M hike through the mud.

If we don't do the Lamar mounds this time, I'll set something up for the Fall.

Anyone who is interested I posted some of my pictures on the Let's Go event. Unfortunately, I am still learning to use our camera and need to work on my focusing. I posted a few of the clear pictures and one of Erik's hitchhiker. Really enjoyed myself on the trip and look forward to the next one.

Thanks again

I posted this in the Wanna Go message boards as well:

How about a Wanna Go event for the Wanna Go group to meet somewhere to discuss Geocaching Wink and afterwards head out to find: 'The Kanati Stone Mystery' series. There certainly would be several other caches amongst those in the series to find as well.

I propose this for the month of MAY. The month of MAY may be ideal for N. Georgia as far as weather is a factor.

Maybe several folks who have Canoes or Kayaks could bring them so all the folks attending could have access to the 4th and final Kanati cache. It would be nice if someone with a boat large enough to ferry small groups of folks could bring one.

Whaddaya think? Wanna Go?

Don't say you can't, say you'll try.

I read the cache descriptions, this does sound like an interesting series of caches to do. I would be interested in going.

Although I have to WORK on Wednesdays, and have not been on a WannaGo, I have done all of the caches in this series except the final. I hooked up with T3 and had a GREAT day doing them all. I have a canoe, but had previously planned to finish Kanati when it was a little warmer. (We did the first 3 in December)
I definately recommend this series (and have nominated it for an outstanding award).
BTW - I have a canoe if anyone needs to borrow it.
