And as of today 12/7/01 it shows that I am 6 out of 464, but of course his figures are not exactly correct.

Maybe this is obvious, but he only counts caches found in the state of Georgia. If you change the search criteria to Tennesee you'll see that bent_twigs has 38 and I have 15. I haven't tried the other states that I've found caches in.
But then again, it's not quantity but quality..........

Hey guys, go to this page and put in your Geonick and you will see your full statistics minus the archived caches (or anyone you put in there). If a cache has been moved to another state, the stat will show up for the new state.
(Ex. = Diamond's Mine moved from GA to NC)

I entered our nickname "fisherKings" and found that we apparently got a cache in New Jersey?! We haven't been there.

Just today I logged a cache "Solitude in Suburbia" and got a traveller from Texas. So, any theories about the "trip" to New Jersey.

Really weird... I am stumped. It is one of your GA caches because you have done 13 here and the list shows 12. Maybe he has some bugs in his script?

yeah, I think his script has some serious "issues"

The page sez that I've logged a cache in California. (never been there) and no matter HOW I try to interpret his results, it just doesn't add up to my total number of cache logs.

Well I exchanged some email with him, he sometimes got info from a cache log before the cache was archived but others were already archived when he started gathering info. That makes it hard to compare your figures with his. So I sent him some code to allow his program to sign on to geocaching.com so he can gather cache log information from archived caches. If he takes advantage of it then he should be able to get more accurate figures.

I helped him some more yesterday. I just checked the top people in Georgia http://www.insidecorner.com/geocaching/stats/states.cgi?country=United%20States&state=Georgia and the totals match what geocaching.com shows. So it looks like he is gathering data from archived logs now.

Logging caches in other states

For the caches we've found that are in states we never visited- they are probably travelling caches. I picked up a traveller at Heritage Park, but it originated from South Carolina.
